Champions League Finalists?

European Football

It is a great thought that we have four of the last eight teams in the competitions but .......
Putting all of our prejudices aside and thinking with an unbiased head - who do we expect to win the Champions League - presuming it will be one of the four Premiership teams?
Liverpool have not performed consistently in the league but beat Inter home and away. Arsenal also won away in Italy as underdogs.
Utd and Chelsea were more straight forward ties.
We will lose one - but can three make it through to the semi's?
And who will win the final?

Its really annoying when some fans of clubs who struggle to win the champions league always try to imply its just a knockout competition.

The fact is its not just a knockout competition.

Firstly to get to the champions league you have to finish in the top 3 or 4 in your league

Then you may also have to play in the qualifying competitions in some cases to get through to the group stages

Thirdly you have to play in the group stages and play each team twice

Fourthly you then have to progress by playing over 2 legs

In additon only the top teams in europe are there..no lesser teams so of course its hard to win it!

It is a major achievement to win the champions leagur becasue of this. In the premiership you play teams twice...in the champions league you play teams twice, but as mentioned in the champions league the teams are are those that finish in the top 3 or 4 of their leagues!

So why do some jealous fans of clubs especially manure fans always rattle on about the champions league bein a knowckout cup is beyond me!!

hmmm the world cup is looseley based on the champions league and rightly on the top teams have in the world have always won it.

Is this just a cup comeptition also and teams are lucky?

I dont think so so why do some fans make out the champions league is easier than the premiership!!

It is a knockout competition but it is a lot easier to win in the current format as you have the luxury of a group stage where you can lose a couple of matches. When it was the European cup you could draw Real Madrid in the first round and had to win over 2 legs.

Either way I think the domestic league is still the one that everyone wants I do as a Chelsea fan if I had the choice!

castle grey skulls-what I was trying to say was that Man Utd on paper look like favorites, but if they come up against Barcelona in the semi's I think they will be beaten. In all reality I feel the winer of Liverpool V Arsenal will triumph in the whole tournament.

Evidently my attempt at written discussion was not clear. My apologies.

i think there is only one team left int he champions league that can stop man utd from winning the trophy, thats barca, theyll have to pla at their best, if (big if) they do then barca will win the cl, the other side of the draw looks much easier chelsea to win nd meet liverpool int the semis again, then the finalist i dnt knw could go either way depends on who takes the advantage of their home crowd and put in a display to win the game, only to lose in the final anyways, come on utd looks simple beat barca and win the final against whoever it is. smileysmileysmileysmiley

Far too close to call in my opinion. It will all depend which teams turn up on the night:

Liverpool winning 8-0 against Besiktas, or losing 3-0 to United.

Aresnal losing 5-1 to Tottenham, or beating AC Milan away.

Chelsea beating Man City 6-0, but then having been knocked out in the Quarters by Liverpool twice.

And don't get me started on Man U...

In short, I think I'm going to have a permanent fence shaped indentation on my rear end....
