With just 3 days to go it must be now time to discuss Sunday and the big day out. Firstly what an amazing effort by both Grimsby and MK to sell over 60000 tickets.. the atmosphere will be brilliant... what are supporters from both sides looking foward too.. what will the score be ? who will be the main players who will make a difference ?... whatever.. I think it will be a great day.. and win or lose .. this day will be enjoyed by everyone !!

I like Ince but his argument is very narrow minded. Why do only black managers deserve his help? I am sure Sol Campbell will make the move into management if it suits him and will succeed regardless of Ince. This isn't the 70s, there is no one saying Black people can't do this or that. There is nothing to prove.

I think we should take Ince's comments with a pinch of salt. He has the makings of a great manager.

Sorry, just to add, Ince mentioned he could be a contender in the future for managing Inter. If given the chance, he would have european experience that Tony Adams, Southgate, Martin O'Neil, Harry Redknapp, Sam Allardyce and many more would-be-England managers don't have.

I only wish more english players would ply their trade abroad, al la Beckham/Mcmanaman/Ince. It would give them stronger links to management in the future, to amass the credibility to become top club managers.

Hopefully Lampard will go to Inter. Many others, I hope will have the balls to leave the country, if only for a season. The relations established would be hugely valuable.

There was an investigation done by us last year that highlighted this problem - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/6375921.stm

I think the statistic that is most telling from this investigation is that more than 20% of all footballers in the English game are black, yet there are only two managers.

When I spoke to Ince he was of the opinion that black footballers go out of the game because the opportunities just aren't there for them.

I think this is summed up by Les Ferdinand's comments: "Doing your badges can take five years. Players don't want to give up that amount of time when there's no prospect at the end.

"The opportunities are not quite there for black managers at the moment."

I honestly do not believe that a club will not hire a manager just because he is black. Its all very well for Les Ferdinand to get on his high horse from his helicopter and claim there are not prospects for black players to become managers. Perhaps if more black players were prepared to put in the effort to do the badges as opposed to swanning about in helicopters and going into media there would be more black managers.

Incidentally, the BBC Score team recently had Garth Crooks and Carlton Palmer on there punditry team. This is disproportionately more than the about of black players. I demand change (or 'improvement') in this statistic!

Do not understand this comment by Russell

This argument is also there for white, Asian, Chinese, Martians....

How many top players of any race are going into management nowadays?? Not many. I believe this is because the astronomically high wages they are earning means they have no need to plan for anything after playing.....unless they have a true love for involvement in the game....which sadly most Premier League players do not seem to have, and money is their love.

How many players of the 60's, 70's & 80's ended up working after their careers in football ended? A large proportion, so it followed that a lot from this generation would end up in management.

Of course we need to ensure that if a black (or any other colour) person wants to go into coaching they are given every opportunity to do so but that it is on a level playing field as everyone else.

I believe the opportunities to do so are already there, but if they are not taken up it should not be automatically assumed this is because we do not want black managers.

I am absolutely certain that a chairman or fan does not care what creed or colour the manager is as long as they are successful.

Incy will be England manager sooner than what anyone thinks if he keeps doing what hes doing. It will not be because of his colour.
This kind of tired drivel is played out now.
Incy was probably asked a question and just answered it.Dont reckon he phoned up the bbc and said "yeah, ive got a point i wanna make on your website"
Why wasnt the investigation along the lines of 'Why so few English Managers managing the big teams all over Europe'.Thats of more use in terms of English football.Inces Inter quip may not be too far off the mark either, hes in with probably a better shout(long term) than any current English manager!

Why does Paul Ince always bring this up. times have changed black people are welcomed by the majority of people. Its almost like he wants people to say "well done paul your doing well for a black man".
I cant believe clubs wouldnt have managers because there black. Southgate got in at boro because he played there and keane got sunderland because he knew niall quinn. get over it paul

The number of black managers will increase eventually. How about Jean Tigana at Fulham, John Barns at Celtic. Two examples of great players, but just couldnt cut it.

As for Paul Ince, I'm gonna sit on the fence regrding his abilities for now. Getting promotion out of a mickey mouse league with a side that is playing well is not difficult. In fact same goes for League 1 and the Championship.

Intelligent comment. whistle

I stand by what I say. Kevin Keegan and Joe Royle are prime example of managers who can get teams promoted playing well in these leagues but fail badly when it comes to managing above these levels.

People are talking up Ince, he hasnt done anything yet. So your team is decent and plaing well in a poor league. I'll judge his managerial skills if and when he gets above Championship level.
