India vs. SA - a few points to ponder

International Tests

SA have made a dream start to the series by piling up a huge score but it is a flat wicket, so the Indian batsmen do have the opportunity to match the score even though they are facing scoreboard pressure.

Sehwag and Jaffer have started at a frantic pace and are flaying Ntini and Steyn. Its still early days, but I had said in another thread that India have just returned after batting very well against Lee & Co., and Steyn & Co. are not in the same league. Indian batsmen could be up against it, but it might also happen that Steyn finds out a thing or two about bowling to top class batsmen because its one thing routing NZ & Bangaldesh, but a completely different kettle of fish when bowling to Sachin & Co.

the british are agog with an average trundler like Pieterson and Tresco - if only they had a devastating batsman like Sehwag, they will brag no ends out

Thanks God, the world's best batsmen are with India - and on top, these greats do not have to play county cricket in england anymore - what a nirvana

The pitch in Chennai is generally known to detriorate on the 3rd and 4th day and is virtually unplayable on the 5th day.Even if India scores 100 runs short,RSA has a big chance but if India score 100 runs more,RSA will have a formidable task of facing Kumble and Bajji...hope the match does not turn out to be another draw!

Boucher was plumb lbw!!! at the score at 390. i doubt saffers wud have made 540 and would have made a score like 480-500. I blame the umpires should india lose the match by around 50 runs. Or the match turns out to be a close draw.

YET AGAIN your completly none sensical remarks are complelty baffling! wot on earth have pieterson and now retired tresco got to do with anything? And u go on 2 say how brits would brag if they had a gr8 batsmen....WOT LIKE YOU JUST DID?!

Your frakly weird comments detract from normally excellent banter amongst the rest of us....

As for the match, i think it will b a draw.. and we will see how good the bowlings attacks r will be seen on a more bowler freindly.

N man cnt wait to see INSHANT bak!!

twinsubramanyam, chennai pitch of today is as bad as the Faislabad, pak pitch - no result is possible - who gave you the idea that 5th day will be unplayable - they said the same in Adelaide - was a boring draw

Chennai pitch has been prepared to ensure a draw so India can preserve the 2nd rating in Tests - when Zaheer, Ishant and the rest are fit, they will opt for pacy pitches in india - that's the strategy - finally, Indians are getting strategy

umpiring errors cannot be blamed - in such docile pitches if one verdict means the result, then blame the curator or BCCI, not the umpires - Boucher is not a gentleman to walk when he is out - south africans are tough like aussies,a nd play rugby as their main game - cricket is a third option in sports in south africa

the series will end in a 0-0 draw - all pitches will be docile batsmen friendly pitches - this will also serve to dent the confidence of Steyn like budding bowlers and tire them out and create a psyche and fear of India's Fab 5

Like Australia promies fear psychosis with Lee and Tait, india can do as well with the Fab 5

so, we can retirt now whatever strategy Aussies and Saffers go with - we can match pace with pace on pacy wickets - not on chennai wicket

I am more like Gavaskar, unafraid of calling the Australian and English cricket hypocirsy - when it comes to trivializing India's emerging status and power - outcome maybe tirades, and blame , but truth should be spoken, and hypocrisy must be exposed

for too lomg under the name of sledging, Indian cricket has been lambasted, their rise envied, their leaders ridiucled and so on -

so in what way Darrel Hair deserves to be reinstated - what elevates Malcolm speed to the ICC chairman any more than Pawar and so on

i acknowledge that you are allowed to have prejudices. we all have them - it's what makes us human and interesting.

but please don't use phrases like 'the british'. i am an england supporter; i am not british, i am english.

you can't generalise and put all of england's supporters/players etc into one group...'the british'. your enemies are the ECB, not the common supporter like me.

in fact we have that in common that we both hate the ECB with a passion. we are just supporters - the only real villains in cricket are the fat cats that occupy the boards worldwide

I'm convinced Sehwag has gone bonkers. Please let him stay like that!
