now that beckham has reached 100 caps does anyone think that he should retire? I am not taking credit from him he has done very well to reach 100 but now we have young players coming through like Lennon, Bentley, Walcott i think that he should let it go and leave it to the young guns to bring England to the next generation. Bentely is just as good with crossing the ball and given the time he could become a much better player than beckham was for england. plz tell me what you think about the beckham situation.

LA made a bad deal with Beckham because he is older than other players. But he good player and he is stay going. LA bought his name not him.

Should Beckham retire?

From what?

He's no longer plays in regular top class football and his increasingly desperate attempts to stay involved with England will soon have had their day.

'Retirement' will take care of itself.

Should Beckham retire?

No, why should he? Just because other players in the past have decided to hang up their international boots to concentrate on their club careers and prolong their career, doesn't mean Beckham has to.

Besides, unlike Scholes, Beckham is no longer challenging for top domestic honours so if the manager thinks he can still do it in an England shirt, which no doubt he can, then he should be picked.

I do think Bentley should now be ahead of him but Becks fantastic vision, crossing, passing, corners and freekicks are a great asset for England to have on the bench. Plus, he is not that old and is still as fit as a fiddle.

How fit is a fiddle exactly?

The title of the article should've been. "Senility finally catches up on McNulty" as he is caught up the the cult of believing his opinion is valid outside of his and Terry Butchers little minds.

Lets be honest here. USA were the worst team we have had at Wembley in the last 15 years.

Beckham was a liability. If he is in the team when we play a decent team. We will get tonked.

For all the idiots who continually whine about him being a dead ball specialist and we need him bla bla bla.

Stop and listen to yourselves, its embarassing.

He's past it, move on pleassssssssseee.

so you say he is a liability against better international teams.

well lets look back at our last game against a decent opposition, oh yes, we were getting trounced 2-0 by croatia, becks comes on, and nearly rescues us.

There has been no proof of beckham failing, especially when you compare him to the others that were on the pitch in an england shirt.

Surely it is not a point of Beckham retiring, why does he not simply fade away or the British media leave well alone. What was he to the sport and what can he do for football today and in the future. More to the point what can he do for other sports and why is he an Ambassador for anything? Answer, "Lovely boy" but, in truth "Nothing". Let him live his life and worry about what his other half is going to do next. End of a very overrated career.

Nah keep Beckham. As a non Englishman I love the fact that Beckham is still involved.

England's best weapon - a dead ball. Brilliant.

Please!!! If there is anyone up there, spare us any more of this fiasco, the man is not fit enough or fast enough either in his legs or his head. Notice that the opposition don't even bother to mark him, he is yards too slow. It is an insult to Bobby Moore and others to even compare him. as for the younger better players, god knows what they must think. Please people of the media, you have forced his selection more times than is reasonable already, why not put him up for Prime Minister or Pope, just get him off the football pitch at this level; go back to USA and do what you can there.
