Scotland 1-1 Croatia

Friendly Scotland
comment on the article

Well done to the Scots on drawing with Croatia.
Niko Kranjcar shot the visitors into an early lead but a Kenny Miller strike from an acute angle restored parity, with the help of a deflection.

Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon was deceived by the opening goal but made up for it with a number of good saves.

Miller had a header cleared from the goal-line and Kris Boyd had a late shot pushed away by Stipe Pletikosa.

The draw leaves Scotland without a friendly win at Hampden since March 1996 but there were a few positives for the new manager.

Miller was once again impressive in the lone striker role, while Alan Hutton was a stand-out at right-back and Gordon was assured on a horrible wet night.

George Burley did decent job considering big injury list so well done to it and hope we can get a good result for next time, i heard it was England or Iran :S, can someone fill me in on the info of this.

still, 7 bookings! 4 of them for Croatia! its a friendly dudes!

All i could also say was to the 820 people waiting outside for the first 20 minutes or so, nothing good happened except for the Scottish national anthem.

A good result for us given the fact we were without so many 'regulars'. The lads all worked for each other and this tyoe of team ethos should see us through to South Africa.

how can you be satisfied with a home draw against a team just two places above in FIFA's ranking table?

Interestingly, England are higher than Croatia in the rankings but managed to lose HOME and AWAY

So, rfsays, what's your point?

Yeah philshaver, I didn't say it was the debate, just correcting blatant ignorance, so mind your own.

what a result for george burley! i think this game has been vastly underestimated out of the home nations with every1 focusing on either how poor england were or the achivments of northern ireland and david healy. but this result sets the way for the scots. burley has picked up where smith and mcleish left off and, no, its not the sort of result that grabs headlines; but its results like these that gets the job done for the qualifeirs. as first games go - congrats to burley. matched one of the best teams in europe at the moment

and also, how good is kenny miller? pretty poor for a side like derby county but hes in healy's league by the fact that he always scores goals for his national team. a true scottish striker and for me shud always be a gurantee in the scotland team as he will get u GOALS. im suprised why celtic fans wanted to get rid of him in the end. 10 times the player than chris killen and derek riordan put toggether

"the sport we created"

actually research shows that football was 1st played in Aberdeen, Scotland. No wonder we're better than them!
