CraftyCockney1 (U6849100) posted Mar 26, 2008 Why are the Chelsea fans so bitter that Rio has been given the opportunity to wear the armband? Surely they can see that in recent years he has matured as a player and a person, and in addition has a pretty good disciplinary record in comparison to John Terry. No one can fault Terry's application and dedication, but why does he think that he has to be 'the enforcer' all the time?

bluebarto (U3262426) posted Mar 26, 2008 I think this is the right choice, especially as there only seem to be 3 candidates. People seem to think Terry is an automatic first choice, but the fact that his character and on pitch behaviour have been constantly called into question, and the fact that Woodgate and King are better centre halves than him means he is not suitable for the job. In the wake of what is going on at the moment, appointing a captain who moans, cheats and harrasses officials constantly would hardly be a bright idea. I would not be suprised if he was to lose his automatic selection he has held under previous managers, whihc if Woodgate can stay fit shoulod surely happen.
