If Jean Todt is gone from Ferrari I think the team is going to be at best second best.

As much as I don't like Ferrari and what they stand for at times. They have left a bigger impression on F1 than any other team, particuarly in the last few years! After Sunday though I think it's going downhill already, it may be just a blip, but those lost points in Oz could be the difference between champion and runner up for Kimi or Massa.

Still the 'F' in FIA, doesnt that actually stand for 'Ferrari'?? :D

It's amazing how many people count their chickens before they hatch! doh
Only one race has gone by and people is saying is is the beginning of the end for Ferrari.

The same was said this time last year for Williams! - what about now?

yep...only one race and all hell broke loose in Ferrari withought the connection of JT.
That shows the the team was built on JT's close FIA connection in order for it to exist & excel.....

I too think Jean Todt, along with Ross Brawn, did a fantastic job at Ferrari. They thoroughly deserved their dominance of the sport in spite of the speculation and gossip the conspiracy theorists like to masquerade as fact to keep us entertained. They brought a discipline and work ethic to the team that clearly didn't exist before.
Remember, Ferrari has been the FIAT F1 team for a very long time and, despite the phenomenal amounts of public money ploughed into FIAT, therefore into Ferrari, prior to Todt, Brawn and Schumacher it was a dismal failure. In fact the resources at Ferrari's disposal merely highlight what an incompetent crap team Ferrari were. It took a very strong willed and talented bunch of people to turn that shambles around. So I think Jean Todt's critics here are not correct in their assessment of him.

Far too early to say, this time last year Ferrari dominated the first race, the following week, McLaren dominated in Malaysia. The opposite could happen this year!

Oh dear! People need to read the links than just the bloody headlines. Todt steps down as CEO, but is STILL in charge of the sports committe as well as a board member at Ferrari.

ipswichcarl: probably not.
Ferrari dominated Melbourne last year because Ferrari are traditionally "good" at that circuit. Same for McLaren in Malaysia.

However, Ferrari were simply uncharacteristically bad in Melbourne this year, which wiped out their "traditional" advantage.

Assuming McLaren do not suddenly "do a Ferrari", they will be "traditionally better", even if Ferrari get their acts together, in Malaysia (and other circuits) they will still be "traditionally worse"

ean Todt was class and rightfully well respected by all and sundry.

Ferrari bashers - You have no idea what your talking about, this is coming from a Hamilton fan.

------------

Im not bashing Ferrari as I have said before Im bashing the poor misguided and completly unacceptable policy the FIA has to Ferrari. You cant knock there pedigree but it bugs the S**t out of me when they dont use the car to do the talking.

I was planning today just to read articles and comments, but again I couldn’t “resist” not mentioning something.

Just to say I fully support Pvandck’s opinion for what Jean Todt, Ross Brawn, Michael Schumacher and Rory Byrne did and brought in to transform Ferrari team.

Like you say, “the ethic, the discipline, the real team and bond between them“, etc. (I have a reference from BBC website but can’t find it now), everything actually. Winning together, losing together, enjoying the wins together - was very very nice to watch them after races.

Now for me everything is different. But you never know – only one race is gone.

But again and again I would say “I miss the old times”… not only when it comes to Ferrari but the whole situation in F1 and the battle, the buzz, the excitement. There were more “characters” then…(at least this is my opinion)
