Mido sees red

Premier League Middlesbrough
comment on the article

Boro's second red card of the season has a more mixed reaction than the first. Some would argue that Mido's foot was very high but others like myself believe that Mido should not have been sent off. The Arsenal defender put his head down slightly is a good foot shorter than Mido and Mido had his eye on the ball all the way. It was a completely unintentional accident. If the ref doesn't reincind the card should GS appeal.

we will be one of the best.

Can accept that. But will and are, are two different things.

Be honest you need to get rid of Eboue or at least we need to see the club do something to improve his conduct.

Rooney isn't perfect, he's getting better, we get the odd dive from Ronaldo but nothing near the way he was when he joined us.

United and Arsenal have come along way since the Keane Vieiria days.

Sadly, United & Arsenal's management haven't.

1. "We lost, so the ref was obviously biased"
2. "I didn't see anything involving my players, but everything involving theirs."

World-class managers, but kindergarten-class attitude.

Something else you see from other clubs, but your jealouisy blinds you of that.

"Our lad isn't dirty."

"Our buys have respect for the ref"

"Poor decisions today from the ref"

They all do it, just some managers as with their teams get more television and radio time and have their words twisted more than others.

Yet Redneck and Pompey fans STILL go on about a foul on Pires 4years ago and deny it was penalty. Why are they still whinging about it. I saw mention of this on this boards last week AND Harry was still talking about it.

I tell you what, load of myopic whingers!!

You have a point - all managers are myopic whingers to some extent - Harry included.

But re. the Pires thing - you have conveniently forgotten that it was right at the beginning of Arsenal's record-breaking run. As long as they keep banging-on about the record, Pompey fans will keep noting yet another example of referees being afraid of upsetting the big boys.

And Canadiano chappy:
I've heard this tired old stuff before about "more airtime, more exposure, so a distorted view" - it's a sack of horsepoo. This is 2008 - surely you're not suggesting that the rest of the Prem. is underexposed, what with the internet etc.? And why should I be "jealous?" Like a host of glory hunters, I could support a big 4 club. I'm quite happy to support my home town, is all, and Fergie's ill grace in the FA Cup particularly riled me.

In general though you have to admit he is right. OK we should have had a penalty, but if we'd taken our chances that wouldn't matter. Our red card was debateable and there were some challenges that were underpunished, Rooney included.

His statements about refs in general were proven in the extreme by the Cole and Riley debacle. Then there is the Aliadiere suspension, the refs need sorting out and that starts with Hackett.

The Mido incident is another showing how poor and inconsitant the officials really are.

Oh I see!! So if Arsenal fans/manager complains about decisions it is whinging. If Pompey do it then it is justified. Glad we got that clear (and yet WE are hypocrites smileysmileysmileysmiley)

You're obviously a bit slow on the uptake, so I'll repeat myself.

I said this above:

"All managers are myopic whingers to some extent, Harry included."

All football fans (including me) tend to have a biased view and the Pires thing will stay long in the memory, because we were still pretty lowly, Big Club fodder at the time. We weren't expected to give you a hard time - we did - the ref. got conned by Pires (or are you arguing that Pires routinely runs with his leg swishing sideways?) and an early chance of glory went. Arsenal then went on their massive run of form, for which - all credit.

BUT:

1) No matter what you may feel, the 'Big 4' have benefitted from gutless refereeing on more occasions than anyone else
2) Granted, we all whinge, but Big 4 managers have made it an art form.

In retrospect I think Mido should have received a 6 month ban!
