Miller should be one of the first names in the squad each and every time. Think about the crucial goals he has scored for us. How many of the other guys can do that?.....

How many other guys can do that for us? Let's see....McFadden, Boyd and almost certainly Fletcher.

Don't get me wrong, I've got a lot of time for Miller, and I would definitely have him in the squad, but he's not doing enough to justify a starting place at the moment IMHO.

I am constantly surprised by Maloney being classed as a striker though. Don't remember him ever being called a striker until he left the 'tic. He's more of an attacking midfielder to me, and that's how he's generally been deployed for Scotland.

Maybe what we have to keep in mind is that you need different horses for different courses. By all means play the more skillful players when you need goals but if your away from home playing a tough team, its not hard to see a crowded 5 man midfield and Miller up front on his own doing what he does best...running his socks off.

I'm not saying the other guys in the squad can't do that, more 'who else is there out there that can push Miller out?'.

I'd still have Miller and Faddy starting, purely because they are our best two strikers in my view. Boyd can be too inconsistent, Fletcher is unproven (although I'm more than happy to give him his chance against the Croats and let him stake a real claim), and as you say, Maloney is an AM.

You're also correct that Miller has been unfortunate to find himself playing for possibly one of the three worst teams on Earth (American Samoa and East Stirlingshire are the other two FACT). But he's been ploughing a pretty decent furrow on his own by all accounts...and technically he has scored 30% of all the goals Derby have nabbed since he joined. So he's got form, of sorts.

To all those questioning Teale: He's been in fantastic form down here at Argyle. He's been one of the best players on the pitch every time he's played.

Its amazing how Christophe Berra can get called up to te scotland squad when Zander Diamond has played brilliantly all season.

I didnt see Berra keep Luca Toni quite in the 2 legs of the Uefa cup game.
