Chris Lewis Comeback?

Twenty20 Surrey
comment on the article

Not sure I can believe the news that Lewis has re-signed for Surrey for the Twenty20 comp??

Hes 40 for Christs sake and retired from pro cricket 8 years ago!!??

Not sure this is even as clever as a publicity stunt?

Your thoughts please?

Maybe that Surrey don't want their young players to ruin their technique playing lots of T20. Plus it gives them a chance to rest a few players in the middle of the season.

You might find that Surrey go for the mixture of veterans and young players. If you have a raw 20 year old opening from one end and Lewis at the other, some of his experience both in matches and in practice may rub off on the younger players.

It's an audacious signing. How can they fail though? If Lewis does zilch, everyone will say it's because of his age. If he succeeds, people will say he's just lucky. Don't rule out the older guy though. Witness Otis Gibson last year.

Mate I am shocked! We need young players to come through and T20 is the perfect opporunity.

I am sure he will do well but really we need to look forward, not back.

Can't see the logic behind the decision but
there must be a reason - Surrey are not stupid.
Maybe some of the senior pro's will be rested
to concentrate on the Championship and 50over games.

I was shocked, but we have lost rikki clarke, ian salisbury and azhar mahmood, so are thin on all-rounders , but lewis has not played county cricket for eight years so it seems a bit of a gamble. i hope it pays off, but i would`ve preferred to get adam hollioake back, as he played twenty20 for essex last season. i think matt nicholson is a genuine all-rounder though and watched him destroy leics` bowling in a pro 40 game at the end of last season.

Odd really. Surrey's team seem to be ageing. Don't know what to think really. Can't see much of an impact from Chris.
