Ishant out of RSA series

International Tests India

Ishant Sharma is latest pullout from Ind-RSA test series. With Zaheer also missing it seems like Pathan and Sreesanth/RP will lead fast bowling attack. There is doubt whether Harbhajan and Yuvraj is also fit. Both of them did not go to NCA in Bangalore for fitness tests on Sunday by saying the "notice to travel was too short for them". The latest news is that Yuvi has gone to NCA this morning for fitness test and Harbhajan has been declared fit.

Here is squad for first two tests

Wasim Jaffer, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wk), Irfan Pathan, Anil Kumble (capt), Harbhajan Singh, Murali Kartik, Sreesanth, RP Singh.

Karthik and Chawla are back-up.

Ishant is out for the first 2 tests, and Zaheer is set to miss the whole series.
I don't think Pathan would make it, unless the team gos for 5 bowlers. if the team gos for 4 bowlers, the lineup in my view would be.
Virender Sehwag.
Wasim Jaffar.
Rahul Dravid.
Sachin Tendulkar.
Sourav Ganguly.
VVS Laxman.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Anil Kumble[captain].
Harbhajan Singh.
RP Singh.
Sreesanth.
think Harbhajan would make if he is fit, although I would have gone for Piyush. Wasim Jaffar likewise should consider himself quite lucky to make at the expense of Gautam Gambhir, who had a wonderful ODI series to Jaffar's dredful performance downunder. if the team management goes for 5 bowlers, Jaffar would miss out, and Pathan might have to open along with Sehwag.

prefer Pathan opening with Sehwag and India goes with 5 bowlers, last spinner either Harbhajan or Murali kartik

Chawla is still raw There is P Ojha too for that matter

They are the future but right now top three spinnesr are Kumble Harbhajan and M Kartik

If Dhoni is injured D Karthik coming in a opening pushes Pathan to No 7 which i am more cofortable with

Let us see

This specultaion is k1lling me! smiley Wish tests would start already!

Ojha has done very well for Hyderabad against somewhat mediocre teams and against international 'A' teams, but in the zonal competitions where the quality of batting is better he has done only a decent job.It hasn't helped that there has been a decline in many of the south zone teams,Hyderabad has been badly hit by ICL.I think he needs a couple of more seasons perhaps,Chawla I think is ready considering the way he has bowled in ODI's and in crunch matches in the domestic comps.

SeeYouIndia,
Ishant is ruled only out of the 1st test. I read in the Indian media that he will undergo another fitness test during the 1st test at the academy and if passed fit, he could make it into the squad for the 2nd test.

MP,
This waiting and speculating is even killing me. I know there is a glut of cricket these days compared to 10 years back, but I can't seem to wait to March 26th to face the saffers!!

How did people live in the 80s when the number of matches was so few?!! doh

Accepted the talent that Yuvi brings to the Indian team, I firmly believe that attitude problems should not be entertained.
I cannot believe that they did not "know" about the fitness test to be held in Bangalore and "could not find flights" man, sounds like me trying to make it to a wedding!!
I think it is quite simple, if everyone else could make it, why could he not?

It is unfortunate that Gautam Gambhir misses out again! I mean, come on! What does one need to do to get in to good books? Jaffer has had a bad tour and I believe between the two, it is obvious that Gambhir seems to have a larger inclincation to pour a large amount of passion into the game, he does look like he represents the "Young dynamic do-or-die" Indian team which is led by Dhoni.
Jaffer does look like he is too passive to get on board as a winner.
Do not get me wrong I am a proud Bombayite, so would love to see Sachin, Jaffer and Rohit Sharma score for the National side, but when it comes to getting the runs and winning games for the country, I am sorry, my choice would have been Gambhir over Jaffer.
