On good ground id really fancy Kauto to reverse the placings.

But I suppose thats never going to happen at Cheltenham with the all the watering that goes on.

I am just glad that none of the no hopers got in the way or came to any grief.

Best horse won on the day but still can't split the pair.

What we need is a good up and coming Irish horse or perhaps Master Minded might step up in trip ?

Respect and Fair play to Denman for winning the race & collecting the Gold Cup, however face the facts kauto didnt run to his best ability, wether this is to do with him getting old or he just didnt want to run today I dont know, but i can tell you when both horses race each other on there best day kauto will win personally i think kauto is getting a bit rusty and may breed after his next big race. BUT im not complaining there has been great races today ive won a little bit of money so happy

Denman is too good to be risked over national
fences. Providing he stays free from injury
he will probably win the Gold Cup next year.

I was glad to see Denman win having backed him at big odds for the GC.

However i think it is fairly obvious that Kauto Star ran below his best and so i wouldnt be getting too carried away by the actual performance as Neptunes Collonges wasnt beaten far in third.

I think we are now entering a golden era in steeplechasing withe the likes of Master Minded, Denman and Kauto Star all rated in the 180`s and i for one cant wait for next season.

The performance in the Aon Chase at Newbury in Feb '08 convinced me that Denman would win the Gold Cup. Kauto Star wasn't 'travelling' or 'jumping' because he was under pressure from a relentless galloper and jumper who was well marshalled by a jockey who knew the strength of his charge. Kauto is a good horse, but on this day, Denman was obviously better.

Kauto Star didn`t jump a fluently as he had done in the King George or at Ascot,but I dont think it made any difference to the outcome of the race.Denmans relentless pace completely took the sting out him,if the ground had been a bit quicker he might have closed the gap but I still dont think he will ever beat Denman off of that pace at Cheltenham.
