Agger to have surgery on metatarsal....

... and is to be out for the rest of the season. Source: LFC.tv

The guy is a class player and has had the very worst luck this year, but...

Was he likely to play much part now this season anyway?

Is it safer that he has the summer to get the injury fully sorted?

Have we got enough cover in defense without him with all the big games coming?

It hurts - Agger's quickness, intelligence and ability with the ball makes him an ideal centreback.

But, with Skrtel, we have the defensive cover to get through this. I'm not sold on Skrtel as yet - he's played several good games but has also made some really bad errors. We'll have to see see how it plays out. Right now, in a big game, I think I'd rather have Hyppia and Carra in central defence.

I remember reading on here about a prem player who got banned for 2 years for doing the ''okey doke'' and Aggers name was mentioned.

Has he played any reserve games or that since his injury?

Hyppia = doh
Skrtel = yikes

Carragher is good but this makes your season go from bad to worse.

What if he plays as a protector of our back four next season? He has pace,perspicacity and the fighting spirit. His tackling is very well,his passing is also good and it's obvious that he likes scoring when he has the opportunity to do so.
Last but not least he's better than Alonso in aerial struggles. Today, I rate him as a good defending or holding midfielder. He's the only one who can ease Gerrard and let him roam forward. With Agger on the pitch we have two players in one, and since we have other centre backs to cope with the strikers,Agger will be very useful in igniting quick counters.

With the following line up, we can make the title get back to Anfield again.
-------------------Reina------------------
Fin/xxx--Skertel--Carra/Hyppia--Riise/Aurelio
Babel----Mascherano-----Agger-----Quaresma/xxx
-----------Gerrard----------
----------------------------Torres----------

To be fair to Skrtel, it usually takes foreign centre-backs a while to adjust to the hustle and bustle of the Premiership.

I remember Stam, Vidic and Carvalho to name but three - people were mocking them in their first few weeks but all 3 went on to be some of the best defenders seen in the league.
