I don't mean in the hit parade, but the rankings. He has hardly any points to defend after indian wells so he only needs to make the semis of a few tournaments and he could shoot right up there ! I'ts a feat already achieved by both Henman and Rusedski, so surely not beyond Murray, Watch this space.

Nadal isn't the type of person to just sit around doing nothing for 6 weeks you mug doh What good would it have done him to play Bangkok and Beijing and then fly back to Europe. He himself said his preparation was far more beneficial by staying in Spain.

He beats 2 top 15 players and on his weakest surface I may add. And all this with his worst possible form of course... and you say you're not a fangirl? doh

I actually think Nadal played pretty well in Madrid as a week later he reached the finals of Paris- so for him he was in quite good form considering that he always does worse in the second part of the year. I always enjoy the Murray-Nadal matches and the one in Madrid was amazing- I was there earlier on in the week and the atmosphere is amazing!!!!!

Nameless? More like Brainless!

Misses all the relevant points (injury/layoff/weakest surface) and continues with the same tired argument, conveniently forgetting the original point!
dohdohdohdoh
Anyone backing Murray vs Nadal on clay?

What relevant points? You mean like "Nadal beat Murray and Baghdatis in straight sets with his worst possible form"? laugh
That's not a relevant point, it's pure BS and you know it, which is why you immediately got overdefensive when I showed you up you silly fangirl doh
No but of course Nadal's form in beating Murray and Baghdatis in straights was even worse than when he lost 0 and 1 against Youzhny or when he got manhandled by the first decent opponent he faced at the AO, or completely outplayed by Seppi (laugh) this year. I bet his form then must have been his best possible form according to you laugh

Meltzer & Odesnik (who?) must be great players!
They each took a set off these hard court greats.
Actually Nadals form has been broadly comparable over the last 6 months (pretty average).

The point stands that Murray had a great opportunity in Madrid, but he lost...match ups and psychology.

It's Melzer, I guess you haven't heard of many players outside the top 20 doh
And is that supposed to be another relevant point? laugh Go watch those matches again, that is the only you can judge, fangirl. Not by saying he beat so-and-so who lost a set to whatshisname so he must be terrible, that's just pointless. Nadal was playing a lot better in Madrid than he has been in all of this year so far. End of story.

'Not by saying he beat so-and-so who lost a set to whatshisname so he must be terrible, that's just pointless'.

Guess who used exactly the same point?

'He beats 2 top 15 players'

Melzer and Odesnik?

Outside the top 20, just! (No's 85 and 123)

If you can't get your facts right and insist on contradicting your own statements...it is end of story, fangirl

laugh Melzer has been top 30 you imbecile, he's had injuries in the past year, otherwise he'd be top 50. Anyway all this BS you are spouting is irrelevant, I'll say it again: WATCH THOSE MATCHES. It's fairly obvious you didn't if you think Nadal was playing his worst at Madrid laugh

I have seen the Nadal vs Murray match. Murray, as he so often does, stood way behind the baseline and waited for Nadal to take the initiative / make the mistake for a lot of the match. Especially given Rafas injury and layoff, had he taken a more aggressive approach he could have beaten Rafa (like Nalby, Youzhny, Tsonga all have). He didn't....and that combination of playing style and psychology loses him matches against certain opponents (another example being Davydenko in Dubai, not exactly worldbeating form!).
Given these factors I still have Nadal as a slight favourite over Murray. You obviously don't.

I've got bored with the mudslinging!

laugh No no no, when did I ever say anything about Murray being a favourite over Nadal doh This entire argument is about you saying Nadal was at his worst possible level of play during last year's indoor season and Madrid in particular, which is complete garbage and I pointed that out. I didn't even bring a potential matchup with Murray into it.
