TONIGHT'S GAME - YOUR THOUGHTS

European Football Tottenham Hotspur
comment on the article

Obviously disappointed in going out on pens - the worst possible way to lose a match. Thought we deserved to win the game in normal time and with a bit of luck we should of. The lads gave everything tonight but I just wish we put in the same effort last week. Yes we got punished by a mistake in the first leg and yes we did not play well at all at the lane which is ultimately where the tie was lost.

Still a trophy in the bag and European football guaranteed it's not all bad.

How come 'Steed' didn't step up for a pen???

Thoughts??

Tottenham - la la laaa Tottenham la la laaa.

Before I make my controversial post - I have to say that I think Tottenham have improved in leaps and bounds since Ramos took ccharge. they are actually good enough to give most teams a game now - remeniscent of when Jol had them playing well and battling for 4th spot.

PSV are a good solid European team. Anyone who thought they would be a walkover knows nothing about football. They should've beaten Milan 2 seasons ago in the semis and were desperately unlucky to lose.

What is it with Tottenham fans ?? Every season you have this unrealistic optimism and delusions of grandeur. You are not as good as Arsenal and you never will be. You won a trophy that Arsenal are fed up of winning, its boring. did it mean anything to us losing to you, YES. are we bothered we didn't win the CC, NO. Someone said it meant a lot to us because we keep getting to the final and semis all the time ... so what ? We ALWAYS play our kids. We did so even in the final last year and Chelsea only just beat us.

We were bored of going to Cardiff every year, FA cup final, CC final, when you do it every year it becomes monotonous. When people start saying "I can't be 4rsed to go to Cardiff this year" you know you've done something too many times !!!!

Before Chelsea stepped up to the plate, during the previous 6 years only Man Utd gave us a game. Tottenham will never have the consistency to push legitimately to be in the top 4. You still need to prove supremacy over the likes of Aston Villa, Portsmouth, Everton and Blackburn. There is no doubting that on your day you can mix it with any team in the PL but you need to make that "on your day" more frequent. I personally still think you have too much dead wood in your team.

You can't give it the bigun until you've achieved something. winning the CC is NOT achieving something. I would say finishing top 4 consistently is a much greater achievement - considering the round that the PL teams come into the CC anyway !

You all show your lack of ambition by going on about Arsenal not winning any silverware this season. Rather play CL football than win some 2 bob cup that the top 4 teams have monopolised over the last 15 or so years.

But lets be honest, everyone is entitled to their opinions, and its because of our differences that we get to have the banter we have LOL - so I'll carry on with my gloating of your loss on penalties and winning a trophy nobody could care less about (apart from Spurs fans) and you lot carry on thinking that you are our (Arsenal's) peers LOL !!! the Arsenal ... the Arsenal !

steverob31 - thts got to be the stupidest post iv ever read

most teams have their regular penalty taker in sixth position, you dimwit - cant believe you don't realise theres normally 5 pens in a shootout.

And the fact you said if the 5 before him miss hes been wasted, instead of if the 4 before him, show it wasn't a typo.

Jesus mate call yourself a footy fan, sort it out

Allan Mullery's comments about Chimbonda 's penalty miss were just bang out of order. He bleated that it was the worst he has everseen.Iam sure he being economic with the truth.Where was he in when England stars missed penalty kicks against the Germans twice and against Portugal. Is it that Allan Mullery is suffering from occular degeneration or a case of that it was chimbonda and not Rooney or Lampard or Gerrrard who missed the spot kicks.Be fair in your comments youngman!

Someone at the FA needs to put up some money so that English players know how to take penalties, whats the point of running around for 120 minutes, if they can't shoot a ball into the goal from 12 yards

I think the Spurs fans who are getting on Malbranque's back for not taking a penalty need to quieten down. He has been one of your best players this season and has contributed far more this season then the people giving him grief deserve. Stop acting like spoiled children and just be glad that you finally might have the manager to take you to the next level.

it's really funny how we have managed to come up against probably the strongest sides in the competition two years running. And for the person before (jimmyhayers87) complete rubbish malbranque hasn't been 1 of our best players. he is useless after 50 mins. we really needed downing.

----------------------------------------------
For those 50 mins at least he is good which is more than can be said for most of the squad this season. the only players who have been consistent have been keane, berbatov and then woodgate and king when they have played. 50 mins playing well is better than 90 minutes playing awful or in lee young pyos case, an entire season being the worst player at spurs in a long time.
