Albion step on the Gas

Championship West Bromwich Albion

Bristol Rovers did ok and they should have had a penalty against Chris Brunt in the first half, but in the second half Albion stepped up a gear and I don't think the scoreline flattered us - we dominated midfield, played the better passing football and we were end to end and our finishing was good. Roll on the semi-final draw, I don't care who we get, there is nothing to fear.

im sorry mate but i disagree about the penalty shout. the player was running away from goal and he went down far too easily. we fully deserved the win. no one left to fear now lets go on and make the cup ours once again

Well done West Brom - as a disappointed Gashead I wish you all the best for the tournament. And no doubt, you boys can win it!

I know we took a bit of a hiding in the end, but I thought we played quite well. 5-1 seemed a bit harsh on us - it was a real contest for the first hour. But thems the breaks, we missed a few half-chances, West Brom were absolutely clinical.

I hope our boys repeat what they did last season, and use a bit of cup disappointment to fuel a strong end of season run. Dunno if we'll make the play-offs, but we should definitely aim for a top-10 finish.

And even though I'm gutted that the Gas aren't in the semis, I can't wait for them. How good has the FA Cup been this year?

Just think the last time west brom won the fa cup and got promoted was in 1931 and we are the last team to win the fa cup from the midlands. so it does make it possible that west brom will go on and win it but it will depend on who we get.

Have to admit, I thought we were flattered by the scoreline... I just watched the game on TV... and I have to say, I was worried about our lack of ability to deal with the set plays. Although, the pitch didn't help our natural passing game.

But hey, I'm not putting a dampner on our success here... I was at wembley the last time we won the cup... we beat Evertonj 1-0... The King (Jeff Astle) scored, 9 mins into extra time... I was only 10 at the time tho, lol

C'mon you baggies... lets do a league and cup double !!

rovers fan here, couldnt get a ticket so watched it on bbc. i thought the final score was really harsh on us. didnt deserve to lose 5-1 but you tought us a good lesson when it comes to taking chances. you took yours very well, we didnt. thats what it came down to in the end. i will add though that YES it was a pen in the 1st half. makes no difference which way he was facing/going. if it was in the area then its a pen. if it happened on half way line then it would of been a foul so whats the difference!! same as ronaldo really a def pen not given. also to that mug from trashton gate, i recall you lost 5 nil to WBA?? at least we put one past them you muppet. hope WBA win the league with stoke runners up and watford kill you in play off. end of the day it was a great run by us which had to end sooner or later and fair shout to the lads but didnt deserve to lose like they did. not sour grapes WBA desrved the win though. good luck for rest of season WBA.

Actually we beat them 4-0 and drew 1-1 at aston gate... (they scored in the last minute)

The scoreline was very harsh on you guys... maybe an odd goal win would have been a closer result in terms of play.... but hey, we're the highest scoring team in the 4 divisions, and thats not including the cups

But hey bud... glad to be of service to ya beating BC - LOl

Good luck for the rest of the season - CHEERS !!

Well played West Brom, you were the best team we've played this season (including Fulham and West Ham). Miller was outstanding and I think in the end a difference in class told, despite decisions on penalties and offsides going against us. Good luck in the rest of the competition (and beating City to promotion).

And just as much well done to the Gas. Every Rovers fan is gutted we didn't get through but I think at 3-1 the game was over. Its been tough for Rovers with a fixture backlog and maybe the pace of the game told on the players a little more than it would in a League One game. But we've got a great team and the play-offs aren't out of the question yet! This ain't the last anyone's seen of Bristol Rovers by far!!!

Goodnight Irene!
