What a fascinating event this has turned out to be with quite a few twists and turns and unexpected results.

Boasting an incredibly strong field of the world's top players, it has become a bit of a roller coaster and who would have predicted a Roddick - Lopez final ?

Seeds have tumbled and we are still left with some interesting questions for the forthcoming season.

Federer we learn has been suffering with glandular fever which explains his fitness problems and lacklustre showing this year.

Roddick has re emerged, taking out both Rafa and Djoko along the way and must be favourite for the title.

Lopez has shone again, defeating Ferrer and Davy. Early rounds included the delightful Santoro, in perhaps his last appearance here, defeating Youzhny.

Murray again providing drama by defeating Fed , but with the worry that his knee problem might be a factor for the future.

No room for error in such a tight competition and lots of questions to be asked of the world's best as we head towards Indian Wells and Miami.

Fascinating to see who will triumph there in 2008.

Thoroughly enjoyable event and some questions for the top players to answer.

Your thoughts on Dubai and predictions for US hardcourt would be most welcome.

Good points Ruggers - not too mant certainties at present. I wonder if the upsets will continue into MS or even the slams ?

Fascinating year ahead I reckon.

It's been a very peculiar few months at the top. From Fat Dave's fantastic month in Madrid and Paris to Rafa's peculiar ups and downs in India, Oz and Dubai, Djoko coming down to earth with a bump after the Oz and Roddick finding some confidence and form. What it all shows to me is that the difference between greatness and genius is consistency, and puts Rog's 4 years of utter domination into stark perspective. I think IW and Miami are a bit too soon for him to get back to his physical best but I expect a very strong showing from May onwards.

"Lopez isn't an aggressive player"

erm He's one of the few players unafraid to serve and volley

No one seems able to fully back-up their good wins, uncertain times.

When Federer fully recovers fitness/form, he may be able to reinstil some stability.

I hope Federer can regain health and form; it would be a shame if such a talent fizzled out. However, think of Justine Henin. I think it's fair to say that she has never been quite the player she was before her long battle with a health problem. She did seem to make ill-advised attempts to come back before she was ready. Maybe Fed will be more careful.

Amen to what you say Belmons. I'm a little worried that in spite of Fed saying the doctors have cleared him to return to 100% practice etc that his body may think otherwise. Time will tell. Anyway, absolutely no consolation prize for me in the Dubai final ...

Well the idea that Roddick is vulnerable was still illustrated, and consequently the general point of uncertainty remains sadface

I agree Ruggers, just joking winkeye

Though Roddick has improved his all round game he is still dependant on his serve and it will be interesting to see if he can sustain it.

Fine win for him though and he certainly is a fighter.
