Anyone find it interesting that Steve Cram is so vehemently anti-Chambers yet one of hit tips and hopes for success is Maria Mutola, who if the pictures are anything to go by, has the body of a man?
Interesting choices, Isabre....I'm keen on seeing how Lacena Golding performs. Curiously, the Jamaica squad doesn't look as strong as it could be:http://www.iaaf.org/WIC08/news/kind=100/newsid=43711.htmlI wonder if veteran James Beckford can secure a medal....
You're clearly extremely knowledgeable about female genetics generally, Hartston, and I'm sure you call on your personal experience of the hardship of life in Mozambique to qualify your ridiculous comment about Maria Mutola's manly physique. She was raised in one of the world's poorest countries and was determined from an early age to do all she could to help her people.Since she first appeared on the international stage, Mutola has donated half her earnings to educating the children of the poor. THAT is what drives her. THAT is what makes her train longer and harder than anyone else and keeps her commitment to athletics going longer than anyone else. When Kelly Holmes was at her brilliant peak in Athens, 2004, her physique was stunning. I was there. In the front row at the start. The other competitors looked ill and wasted beside her: they were beaten before the start - yet no-one suggested she was anything other than a determined, hard-working, CLEAN athlete. So why should it be that Maria Mutola is any different? could it be that she is foreign? Dwaine Chambers cheated. Habitually. He even cheated his relay teammates out of their world championship medal. He is one of many who drag our sport through the sewer of fraud and theft from their fellows, but don't number Mutola amongst them without proof. She has never missed a test and never failed one. For all the selfless good she has done for her country, take her on merit and continue to enjoy one of the most dignified and graceful athletes the world has seen.
You don't get it Earl of Cherwell, do you? G_Wedders is right, a cheat is a cheat. Forgiveness has nothing to do with it. Cheats have no concience. They only put their hands up when they get caught. Then they wiggle and squirm and beg forgiveness. In other words, they're still cheating, trying to convince everybody it was a mistake. The only mistake, in their minds, was GETTING CAUGHT! Sweep them out, ban them for life.
You know as much or as little as I do about 'clean' athletes. Do you know for a fact that Mutola is 'clean'? Does Steve Cram? The growth stimulants can't be detected, matey-boy. There are a lot of cheats in athletics. There always have been. Science is moving incredibly fast and the methods of testing can't keep up. Dwain was caught. The vast majority are not. In a sport riddled with deceit it any wonder I'm cynical. Keep the blinkers on and keep believing.
So, Hartston, you advocate guilt until proven innocence? That should clean up sport nicely.
Just highlighting the double standards of Chambers-baiting.

can anyone tell me why before duane chambers 60 meters steve cram does not show any respect.i thought b.b.c. commentators where to show imparchiality(spelling)and can any one tell me who is funding jonathan edwards huge salary for working for a set up called PODIUM,what they do? does the lottery fund it? how is lord coe getting on attracting private funds for the london olympics ? i here there is a serious shortfall, will all the billion or two, promised how much will be cashed into offshore bank counts accounts
LeaveChambers alone. He did the crime (probably unwittingly) and has served the time. AnNy other 'criminal' is allowed to have a life, why should he be any different? Nesides which, he is STILL a damnded good athlete and one of the few Brist who will challenge for a track medal, in Valencia or Beijing. Go for it son, I'm behind you.
