Williamson Sacked

League Two Chester City
comment on the article

Chester City have sacked manager Bobby Williamson after a run of just one win from their last 14 games.

Youth team coach Simon Davies has been placed in temporary charge for Tuesday's game with Darlington.

Yesterday's 1-0 defeat at MK Dons left Chester in 17th place, 10 points above the relegation zone.

Former Hibs boss Williamson had taken charge at the Deva Stadium in May 2007, taking over from Mark Wright.

After being sacked as Plymouth boss in September 2005, Williamson coached the Scotland B side and was shortlisted to take over at Livingston, before being appointed by Chester just after the end of last season.

Is this the right decision? Who do you think is the man to take the club forward?

His overall record as a manager of all his clubs is appalling and no doubt this will be good enough for ex Ranger, like Williamson, to be considered by SFA for a job.

Is it me or do Chester sack all their Managers within 10 months??

Sorry, i don't care how bad he was, the fact is you are about where you would surely expect to be. He is paying the price for a good start to the season - and how can anyone be judged in such a short time

Criticise my club as much as you want (Bradford) but when we lost 5 on the trot there was no call for Mcall's head

Then again, we have had 7 years of constantly losing and i do think there seems to be a big problem with some League 2 clubs, thinking they should be better placed than what is realistic

Somebody from the league needs to take a look at how Chester is being run.
Which other club has the Chairmans two sons in the playing staff?
Down to about 12 full time professionals & still having problems with wage capping?

From a relative neutral point of view I think this is ridiculous. Yes-Chester have been on an awful run of results but there was enough at the start of the season to suggest that if given time Williamson could do something at Chester. No manager can be judged in 7 months- its ridiculous. Chester have had 7 managers since 2000- 7 managers in 8 years and they've done nothing. Stability is badly needed at Chester and it will never be achieved with that clown Vaughan in charge.

Their was a huge sigh of relief from Hibs fans when Blobby left Hibs to join Plymouth. I'm surprised he keeps on getting jobs. I would suggest he should change career's now and open up a pie shop.

I think the decision was questionable and the timing definetley awful. to sack a manager a week before the derby match against wrexham is the wrong thing to do. now we will go into that match either managerless or with a quickly chosen manager with little time to prepare the squad. overall i believe he should have stayed for the wrexham game. if chester won that, give him longer but if they lost then he should be sacked. as for the manager to take the club forward I'm not too fussed as long as the club have taken the time and consideration to make the correct choice
