Super Aguri's struggles

Formula One
comment on the article

Super Aguri insist they will be ready for the start of the new season in a couple of weeks - regardless of the fact that they cancelled the launch of their car and pulled out of testing in Spain.

With their fate largely in the hands of Honda, Aguri have struggled to make much of an impact.

Talks are ongoing with potential new investors, according to co-owner Fumio Akita, although a takeover has not been ruled out.

How do you see the Japanese team's future panning out? Do they have a realistic future in the sport?

Surely the data Honda gets from the cars would be worth a few million. Lets hope Honda see it that way too.

I can't imagine them wanting Honda badges all over the cars at the back though.

They may have to pull out of F1 altogether then!

we've debated this before on other threads, but still think if Honda can get 75,000 people to pay money to have their name on Honda's myearthdream car, Super Aguri should be able to attract similar number of fans to invest in buying shares in SAF1. 75,000 at say £500 would raise £37.5 million. Think there are quite a few 606'rs who would fancy being a "co-owner" of a F1 team smiley
Also with 75,000 fan shareholders you would attract the sponsors and sell lots of SA merchandise.

I don't like these B teams in F1: Torro Rosso and Super Aguri.

I would rather a return to the days when the back markers were privateers, new teams launched on a shoe-string trying to make a name for themselves - it seemed all you needed was paper, a set of crayons, some sheet metal and a Cosworth engine.

The days when there was pre-qualifying and teams like Rial and Jordan could come from nowhere and steal points.

Instead we have these diddy teams now with no panache, whose raison d'etre is simply to exist and be spoon fed like feeder clubs in lower league football. Pointless.

Re: jollysilverking's remarks..........
Who needs their name written on the car? Offer shares at 10GBP a pop and hundreds of thousands would "invest" in SA. Same idea only aimed more at the common man all over the planet. Remember Manfred Man's offer of real estate back in the mid 70's?

I would love to see super aguri in this year if only just to show up the honda team again or to see sato pass alonso again. And the idea of putting hundreds of shareholders in the company might not work if the company falls through in a couple of years time?
