Massive credit to KP for turning down the big-money lure of the IPL. I would have had him down as one of those who would take the money and run and am very happy to be proved wrong.
There aren't many sportsmen who would turn down that kind of money and it's great to see this kind of massive appreciation for his adopted country... well done KP!

I never mentionned that it made him special, I merely said that the analogy to football was wrong. Especially as in this case KP is contracted to England centrally, which is not something present in football.

The players in the premiership are not betraying their country by playing there, they are (usually) playing in a higher standard of competition to improve themselves, and still play for their country. Hussey playing in the CC would be equivolent to Hargreaves playing in Germany, which he never got called traitor for.

Rather than making up things i didnt say, realise that I showed the analgy you were raving about to be incorrect, and give up the KP bashing for once.

Bet you;d have been one of the 1st on here slagging him if he'd have taken the move.

Massive credit but KP has such a big profile he can afford to because he'll probably make more from sponsorships.

What is the big deal here? No player in the world will play in IPL when there are commitments to their national side. Even though the Aussies have signed up, none of the current players would play in the IPL during their tour of Pakistan. KP could never have taken the money even if he wanted to, as England's schedule conflicts with the IPL; otherwise he would have been banned from playing international cricket. Simple as that.

And who gave you the impression that playing in the IPL is playing against your national side? Such a naive comment!!!

I do enjoy Twenty20 cricket and in principle I don't have the slightest problem with the IPL or there being more money in the game. But the ultimate form of cricket is test cricket, and sadly I can see a time in the future when there will be hardly any test cricket at all, with perhaps only England and Australia still playing tests - which would be very sad indeed...

First up well done KP for showing loyalty.

It will be interesting to see how Shane Bond who was more off the field than on it will cope with with the IPL foremat. And another Lou Vincent, who said hes suffering from depression, but breeches his contract with New Zealand cricket and is off to India.Im affraid when it comes to the financial rewards the word Loyalty has no bearing. I would not have you players in my team thats for sure.If the IPL goes for any length of time i can see it now, mobility scooters and zimmer frames, should be called the OACC, Old Age Cricket League.

I dont like the idea much.....esp. I can't cheer for a club more than my country.ANd also, I love test matches...cant digest much of 20-20.
Lets wait and see what is the future of test cricket.

KP is just a hypocrite and a savy marketer. A man who once betrayed his birthplace will have no problem doing so again. He is just biding his time. He knows that signing up this year does not make any sense due to scheduling conflicts. The utterly naive here think it is out of 'loyalty'! My foot!!

KP's heart is with three lions and I am sure it will stay that way.
