The transfer window maybe closed, but the rumour mill continues to work overtime.

If you believe eveything you read then Real Madrid are about to make Cristiano Ronaldo the world's highest paid player on Ł8m-a-year to tempt him away from Old Trafford.

Back to reality and the news that Martin O'Neill is prepared to pay Liverpool Ł10m for on-loan goalkeeper Scott Carson is much more likely, while Kevin Keegan is set to make Senegal defender Lamine Diatta his first signing on his return to St James' Park.

The answer to Kevin Keagan's problems is not in smack, crack, grass or at the bottom of a bottle even with what is confronting him I doubt whether he would go down that road. If it doesnt work out for him soon he will do what he has always done, a swift exit.

Ł8m a year! I thought RM and Barca had given up trying to sign him. That's what they said recently anyway.
