Hicks Won't Gillett Will

Premier League Liverpool
comment on the article

While Hicks is quick to ridicuale comments regarding him not selling his stake in the club to the Americans, he has failed to mention anything regarding Geroge Gilletts involvement in the club.

Hicks has said he is not selling his share in the club but nothing about Gillett selling his share. It seems clear to me that Gillett has got a level head and will not be involved with our club in the future. Gillett may very well be discussing his selling of his shares with D.I.C. This is something Hicks can do naff all about.

So to me it looks like soon we will be a part American, part Arab club but soon I believe it will be totally Arab. Hicks will know he can withstand the financial power D.I.C wield and he soon HAVE to sell his shares. Hicks is clutching at straws and he knows his time is dwindling down. He is being petty in my opinion and would let his family get humilated and harassed just to meet his own personal aims.

So adios Gillett, Hello D.I.C, Hicks they're coming for you next.

I also think Rafa's the man to do it - but then you knew that already.

But as you say all clubs need to "move on that 10% of thw squad" annually mainly for fresh faces and fresh motivation....

A statement from Hicks on Tuesday said: "Reports in the UK media that I am about to sell my stake in the Liverpool Football Club, or to invite DIC to examine the club's books in preparation for such a sale - like other such reports planted in the UK press in recent weeks by parties with their own self-interested agenda - are absolutely and categorically false."

BBC headline: " Hicks holds talks over Liverpool"

It must have been a very quiet news day for some junior hack in the beeb if this is all they can come up with... Was your editor on holiday?

A great example would be that at the start of the season the vast majority of Liverpool fans, myself included, thought our left back area was pretty well served, certainly strong enough to not need replacing for a while yet.

Now I don't think you'd find many of us who don't want a new left back, or who would be crying into their beers if Riise were sold.

The owners have already cost us here - strongly rumoured we could have had Khaladze for £4.5million in January if we'd acted sooner.

Not a long term solution I agree, but given ourinjuries at CB and how appalling Riise has been going forward this year he could have made a real difference to our form in the new year.

To put it another way, Roman is happy to shell out £15million for Anelka to cover for Drogba, even though you have £35million worth of other strikers on the bench.

Can't see our owners doing that...especially since we still haven't secured the services of one Javier Mascherano *sigh*.

Hey you never can tell how quickly a footballers star will fade...

Well the other issue is Liverpools repuation puts on 20% on the asking price for Chelsea its 50%.

Alves from Valencia being an example, liverool could have had him for 9 mill 2-3 years ago and al of a sudden he is 24m to chelsea last year!

As for RA - Chelsea were reasonably quiet during the summer with names brought in for free - so the 15 m was "affrordable".

Your right about stars fading, jeez, I wasn't sure Sheva would adapt amazingly, but THIS badly?

(Although I absolutely think that he hasn't really been given a fair shout in a role that suits him either, he's never gonna be a target man or a wide forward).

We were priced out of Alves because it went to £12 million, a situation that makes Rafa quite purple with rage, I've no doubt.

I take your point about Chelsea prices though. That said, you still spent £17million on Malouda, and £4.5 on Belleti, plus £25 in January.

This kind of llustrates for me what Rafa is up against.

He's trying to build a squad, and is expected to beat that, with a budget of around £20million a year, having started a distant 4th out of the top 4, and with sod all in the reserves/youth to work with.

I find it laughable how many fans seem to think that, say, Mourinho, could take the same money, wave his magic wand, get us the prem ahead of the other top 4 while playing glorius football in the style of Michel's Ajax...

Note, I'm not one of these people who doesn't rate Mourino either. Regardless of cash you need still need to make a winning machine.

No-one in world football has assembled a more terrifying winning machine than Mourinho in those first two seasons, and there have been others who basically typed in the 'infinite money' cheat.

Real, AC and Inter, Juve to an extent. I've no doubt at all that Mourinho would have won you the CL eventually if Roman had actually seen winning as his real priority, rather than his own ego for a wonder side.

Still, that's the problem with that much power in one man's hands and wallet, although there again it's a frightening though what may happen if Roman does realise that to achieve his dream he's going to have to find a manager with a similar one and trust him 100% ok

From reading this message thread, what a terrible mess LFC are in.

Do you really believe that your protest marches, banners and physical abuse of the owners son will bring you success on the pitch

If you do you are deluded.

The people that you now criticise with a venom are the very people that you were welcoming with open arms last year. Just in the same way as you put your faith in John Moores and Rick (Trust Me) Parry.

People like Moors, Gillette, Hicks and the arab consortiums ar not interested in LFC or their supporters.

How do you think that they made their Billions of Pounds.

By infiltrating the gullible and then asset stripping.

These people are amongst the best business men in the world, do you really think that they are interested in some welder in skem with 4 kids and a council house.

Have a word with yourselves.

The great Raffa needs some looking at as well.

How concerned do you think that he would be if he were to be sacked tomorrow.

He coudn't care less. He wanders off into the sunset with a few million pounds in the bank, laughing all over his face.

Steve Gerrard should have left LFC two years ago, he is to good to be wasting his time at LFC.

Then they find the team bottom of their CL qualifying group, and Rafa then starts bleating about more money when the CL revenue is under question due to qualification.

rafa wanted a two defenders (agger has played four games and left us with two centre backs) and mascherano signed.

one defender was on a free and one would be bought with the money that never got spent on hyypia. The intention is to sign mascherano and the manager wanted it done quickly whats wrong with that, bloody common sense to me.
