If I recall correctly round 2 of selections for the British team for Valencia is tomorrow. I've put the current athletes below.

Men – 60m: Dwain Chambers (Belgrave Harriers). 400m: Richard Buck (City of York), Steve Green (Newham & Essex Beagles). 800m: Richard Hill (Notts AC). 1500m: James McIlroy (WSE Hounslow). 60mH: Allan Scott (Shaftesbury Barnet). High Jump: Samson Oni (Belgrave Harriers). Pole Vault: Steve Lewis (Newham & Essex Beagles). Long Jump: Chris Tomlinson (Newham & Essex Beagles). Triple Jump: Phillips Idowu (Belgrave Harriers). Shot Put: Carl Myerscough (Blackpool). 4x400m Relay: Buck, Green.

Women – 60m: Laura Turner (Harrow AC), Jeanette Kwakye (Woodford Green & Essex Ladies). 800m: Jenny Meadows (Wigan & District Harriers), Marilyn Okoro (Shaftesbury Barnet). 1500m: Jemma Simpson (Newquay & Par), Susan Scott (City of Glasgow). 3000m: Helen Clitheroe (Preston Harriers). 60mH: Sarah Claxton (Woodford Green & Essex Ladies). Pole Vault: Kate Dennison (Sale Harriers Manchester). Pentathlon: Kelly Sotherton (Birchfield Harriers).

Jessica Ennis is unlikely to get a pentathlon invite due to the rules of the indoor world championships. Is she likely to go in the high jump or 60 meters hurdles. She has the times and distances for both. What about 400 meters woman. Is Sanders or Christine O gonna run?? Do they have qualifying times? I don't remember either running so far this year. Which of Lisa Dobriskey or Katherine Wotton will join Helen Clitheroe in the 3000 meters.

On the mens side. Who will take the second covetted 60 meters hurdles spot. We have 9 men who have the qualifying standard In reality it is probably between two athletes. Will it be Pickering or will it be Williamson. I know Turner has been battling injury but will he be sent in the sixty meter hurdles. Is there anyone else that you feel will join the team in the second round of selections.

Full squad announced. Surprised Farrah is going, or is he.Same applies to Iduwo.
Just a quick mention of Ennis, has she been overlooked or opted not to compete?

I think Jess Ennis decided to focus on the Olympics and carrying on training. As far as I know Mo Farah and Phillips Idowu are going.

Harry AA ran 6.59 in France, he must be disappointed he hasn't been taken even as a reserve?

Go on DWAIN Chamber.

Shut those critics by winning a medal.

Looks like a strong team however I am disappointed for my training partner and good friend John Kelley who should have been picked for the 4x400m having finished 3rd in the world's run off race in Birmingham the other week and clocking the 3rd fastest time of the weekend at the EA champs...have Dale Garland & Rob Tobin even stepped on an indoor track this winter?!

Or how about Richard Strachan?
He has run a faster time than Debo Ademuyewo and John Kelley, + beaten them both at the World Championship Trials. I've heard that Richard was informed that the Birmingham match would not be used as a selection race, and so he thought it'd be better to train instead.
How must he feel?!

I think my list above was spot-on as concerns the second wave of selections save that Mo Farah eventually decided to contest the 3000m in Valencia, presumably buoyed by his 7.46.0 split in his 2 mile race in Birmingham, while Rob Tobin rather unexpectedly came into the frame to get the nod for the 4x400m relay.
There was a very good point by the selectors to name Ricky Fifton, James Brewer and Montell Douglas as travel reserves as they are still going to gain a great deal of experience being in a World Championships environment. I wish they had done the same with either Jordan McGrath or Chris Clarke in the relay but I think the overall selection polity was sound.
It is a very good team, despite missing many of country's top performers, and I reckon we're going to see some new names rise to the fore in Valencia. As for medals, Kelly Sotherton, Phillips Idowu, Jenny Meadows, Dwain Chambers, Simeon Williamson and Chris Tomlinson are leading prospects but I wouldn't rule out some upset from behind...

i'd add to that list Jenny Meadows, who i feel has a bronze within her grasp at the least. She's been stunning all season and i reckon that a faster race will drag her along somewhat. Can't understand Tobins inclusion as i don't think he's even run this year yet has he? If he has it hasn't been recorded.

Dale Garland has run 47.41 this season but don't know about Rob Tobin.

I guess Tobin's selection was very much in the vein of Lee McConnell's late call-up last year to bolster up the relay team, without him actually aiming at an indoor season in the first place. He may have been monitored over his fitness and sharpness and included in the squad.
By the way, I 've mentioned Jenny Meadows above Droitrob!
