Tiger has won his 3rd WGC accenture matchplay championship by a record margin of 8 and 7 over Stuart Cink in Tucson, Arizona to move past Arnold palmer on the all time victory list. he was in command almost all day and made only one bogey on the first 18, which in the end didn't matter as cink missed an easy putt to win the hole. Woods was 4 up at the end of the first round of the day and started the second round in similar fasion with a birdie at the par 4 second. A bogey by woods on the 5th was again unpunished by Cink. Woods finished in style with an approach shot ending up just a few feet from the hole and the putt was conceded by Cink. Cink then failed to hole his putt and the match was over. Great win for tiger

This clearly shows all the doubters on these boards that woods is in fact an exceptional match player.

This is his also his 3rd victory of the season and is clearly in stunning form. Will this turn out to be his best season to date and surpass the achievements of 2000.

Just wish I could play half as badly as him.

For me Tiger is the greatest individual golfer there's ever been including all the other greats. However, his only weakness is when he has to compete as part of a team especially in the Ryder cup. In the fourballs and foursomes he seems to struggle to work with players who are not his equal.

A large part of his game is based on the ability to shut everything out and just play his own game. When he has to let another player and team mate in to his own world it plays havoc with his game.

It's nice to know he's human after all and I wonder if either Tiger or the next Ryder cup captain would have the strength to say "Tiger, I think the team would do better without you".

The reason his winning margins arent as big is simply the fact that when he hits the front he just looks at parring the holes and playing within himself. He just forces the others to push their games and play shots they dont want to and as a result they make bogeys.

Looking for him to win a major this year coming form behind on the final day - although the way hes playing he cud be away and gone by the 3rd day.

Scarborough - nice idea as i think the Americans constantly put more pressure on him by looking to him to pull them out of a hole but if they had to man up themselves they may perform better rather than leaving it to one man. It will never happen though and personally Id rather have him there on my team.

The guy is just out of this world. I don't think there is any debate that he is the greatest golfer of all time. He has completely changed the game, raising it to a new level, and in an era when golf is truly a global sport played by many millions more than at any time in history he his so far ahead of the field it is not funny.

It is a massive call to make him the greatest sportsman of all time however. Golf is such an individual game, for the most part you against the course. It is very hard to compare him to Michael Jordan or Pele for example....great players who did it with their teams. Indeed they led their teams to greatness.

Tiger has not done this. It is not as if he is invincible in Ryder Cup - far from it in fact. While he may have a positive win-loss ratio in Ryder Cup games he has not 'lifted' his team to many victories. To make him complete I think he needs to show that side as well.

LAst year at one of the big events he used it about 3 times in four rounds and still came out on top...

*************************

Actually, Tiger only used his driver once at Hoylake, on the 16th during the first round. I was down the left side of the fairway and he smashed it right over our heads, miles down there but left. Ended up almost on the adjacent hole's fairway but his second to the green (16th is a par 5) was phenomenal and he easily got his birdie. Just an example of how unnecessary the driver seemed for him, think he might even have said it himself.
His talent is beyond belief.

his 3 wood goes as far as 279 - 280
Do you think he really needs a driver. All I can say is he is human enough to show us that he is not perfect with all his clubs....Hence he calls his golf swing work in progress....Think about that before you comment on his driver Afterall a w is always a win no matter what clubs you use...Whats wrong with a 63 and a 3 for 3 in '08

There is still plenty of time to hush the Ryder Cup critics and be sure he will.

Hello.
Tiger has alrady suggested that his talent is a stepping stone to higher achievments (Helping kids). He has risen to a new level of awareness and his sport is simply a tool. There is no doubt in my mind that we are witnessing the greatest golfer ever but also the birth of one of the most important human beins to grace our generation. I believe Tiger will break all the records in golf but beyond that he will rise to be a significant historical personality.......President etc.
