At long last Carlos Rodriguez realises it takes more than hypnotism and his protege shouts of 'Allez' to win a tournament.

" Its always worked before" he stated when asked what he thought went wrong today for Justine in her failed attempt to defend her Dubai Championships title.
"Its a shame" he continued "because now it means we're going to probably have to start working on Justine's serve and forehand"
" We've always got by, without a serve you could call a serve, quite successfully, but now I guess in this modern game, to stay at No1, you need to be able to serve, just shows how much the game has changed, I think for the worse, over these last few years!"doh

I know that hindsite is a great thing but I don't think that Henin can go any further than the quarters. At last people are learning how to beat her!

Hooray Elena wins ... 5-7 6-3 6-3
Elena has some of the best groundstrokes in the game - if only she improve her serve and consistency.

Go Elena!

If this was a slam, I'd be supporting Dementieva or Ivanovic. But, since it's just a regular event, I won't Schiavone to win it. Eight times a runner-up, no wins yet. Come on, love.

Bullet,

Schiavone has won a tournament - in Austria last year - it was her first in 8 attempts - still though she could do with another

I haven't seen more pathetic tennis in a long time: Anna's terrible volleying versus Dementieva's robotic , mindless base-line bashing, oh dear!
And thn on top of it all, that horrid, horrid grunting, can someone tell me it was a terrible dream!

^^

Yeah it was terrible. But after some time it became monotonous. Dementieva and her double-faults. It was so damn frustrating. Somehow she won the match but Ivanovic was sluggish. She looked tired as well...Atmosphere was great. Now hoping to go and see men's tennis now smiley

I suspect Svetlana or Jelena will win........JJ certainly impressed with her groundstrokes today - much crisper than in recent months. It would be nice to see Ms Schiavone win a title and she is most certainly in form
