Adam Scott

How on earth is Adam Scott ranked so highly in the world rankings?????

Am I alone in thinking this is an enigma to me or are the PGA actually not able to do simple mathematics?

From where I am standing the boy is just soooo overrated. He had to pull the best round out of his career to win in a week field in Qatar to earn his first win in god knows how long and just yesterday he was ousted from the Accenture Match Play by none other than Woody Austin: a man who is hardly considered in the elite of golf.

What has he really won that suggests he should have got to number 4 in the world? He won the Tour Championship 2 years ago when the number 1 and 2 didnt even show up. That is (if Im getting my facts right), the biggest win of his career.

He is not an annually multiple winner on the PGA Tour and if you consider Mickelson, Furyk and Els (and of course Woods) who are regulars in and around the top 5 and have won majors and many a Tour title regularly to justify there spots, it just seems... well odd that Scott is up there consistently. If he wins 1 tournament on either side of the Atlantic a year thats about it. I also think he avoids Tiger like the plague, but thats another story.

I actually think he has a really nice swing, but he simply cant putt. Like watching Garcia, I have watched him make some criminal errors in the past from a club length to the hole and for this reason, I doubt he will ever win a major.

And whilst we are talking about Majors, last year he missed the cut in at least 2 Im sure of it.

Can someone (other than thereev or GJtheaussiestud) enlighten me as to what Im missing or otherwise let me know if you are feeling me on this issue?

The boy is just totally overrated.

some how i don't think the world rankings lie and yes he has a great swing but i don't think its the best because wouldn't that make him the world number 1. the best swing should be defined as the swing which gets the best results, and that is of course, woods.

If Tiger goes the whole season unbeaten and plays more than 18 events I'll eat my underjocks. He is the greatest golfer ever in many peoples minds and the greatest sportsperson ever to many others too, but to win every tournament for a whole season is practically impossible , even for him.
It would be like a Premiership team going a whole season unbeaten without conceding any goals. There are just too many variables in golf to allow that to happen.

It is a big ask to go unbeaten all season but the way he has been playing of late anything is possible. He did not just win the match play he demolished his opponent in the final. 6 in a row! A Tiger Woods with that much confidence to say that is very worrying for the rest of the golfing elite, we shall know soon enough!

funnypkerfan - what personal problems are you talking about exactly???? Do I ever talk about anything with Adam Scott other than golf?

Unlike GJ the most boring and biased person in the 606, at least you make an argument but in the end it all sounds silly when you make out I have something against Adam Scott other than I dont think he is that great a golfer.

Slasher - couldnt agree more.

im sorry but u obv dnt know alot about golf if u think adam scott is overrated.... if you think that then u must think the rest of the world is overrated. the lad is gr8 golfer and will defo win a major within the next 5 years....

the comparison with him and norman r ther tho! u have 2 remember in normans time ther was nt a dominant player in the feild like there is now with woods it was easier for norman to win as many tournements he did.

did'nt Hogan win 11 in a row ?
Still couldn't do it for a whole season.
With the calibre of players around it just won't happen. He could get injured, sick, disqualified. He's got a young family too.
Tiger may have demolished his opponent in the final last week but was really lucky in his first match and against Baddeley it could of gone either way.
The other others will be gunning for him now and I don't think that they will let him make a mockery of the tour.

All i a going to say to you guys is Oscar Sharpe. If you have any sense you will go to your local bookies and ask them for odds on him winning something like a major before he is 21. Something like that, you may only be able to get 10-1 or odds around there. But its worth a try because if you research him you will see why.

George - going off the subject a bit but if i was backing a golfer who is already 15 years old to come and win a major in the next 6 years (24 majors max) and probably wouldn`t be in the next 12 for definate i would want 1000/1. Don`t forget a a little person called Tiger woods who i am sure is still going to be going strong in 6 years time. Really poor bet for me that even without looking him up unless you can tell us otherwise?

I totally agree with you on this one, no doubt the lad has bags and bags of talent, but he just simply hasnt done enough to justify his world ranking. Same goes for steve stricker, had a few good results last year and was number 2 in the world or whatever he got to, maybe number 3. On the other side though, what does it matter, they are all playing for second place at the minute, Mr Woods is head and shoulders and legs above the rest!
