Ramos and Grant go head-to-head

FA Cup
comment on the article

The Carling Cup final returns to Wembley for the first time since 2000 and, just like last year, it's an all-London affair.

This time it's Tottenham who face Chelsea, who are looking to win the competition for the third time in four years.

On paper, the Blues are clear favourites, but in reality it could prove a tough match to call and much of that is down to the two men in charge.

Spurs are really starting to respond under Juande Ramos and the Spaniard who built a reputation as a cup specialist in his hometown - he won five trophies in just over two seasons with Sevilla - is being tipped by many to mastermind an upset.

However, Avram Grant is starting to prove himself a worthy successor to Jose Mourinho and the Israeli has enough firepower in his squad to strike fear into any opponents' ranks.

A lot might depend on which manager gets it right tactically on the day and so we've had a look at just what has changed under the pair in their short reigns - and club favourites Gary Mabbutt and Gavin Peacock have also had their say.

Where do you think the game will be won and lost? How do you think Tottenham and Chelsea should line up? And, most importantly, who will emerge victorious - Ramos or Grant?

There is no reason to have Spurs as the underdogs here. The league positions mean nothing and it is a cup final after all. Spurs are on the up and Chelsea have at best been effective when necessary. Juande Ramos is the real difference between the two and what he achieved at Seville was incredible. Watch for Berbatov to shine today, the stage is set for him and he is a class act.

There is no way either team will win this decisively. As a Blues fan I obviously hope we beat the Spurs but it won't be easy. I think playing JT will give us the stability and calm we sometimes miss in defence. As for Lampard, I would play Ballack and keep him on unless he is having a bad day. As for the front line I would choose Drogba, Anelka and J. Cole. I would also choose Bridge at left back.

This may sound silly but why is an article on the Carling Cup final filed under "FA Cup"? (see the tags at the top)

Fair play to Spurs, I take my hat off to them. They outplayed Chelsea- who didn't even get going! The better team on the day won!
