Premier League still wants to go global

Premier League
comment on the article

Premier League chief Richard Scudamore today insisted that the Premier League will fully consult the whole of English football - and Fifa - as it shapes its proposals to go global.

That we're merely at the start of a year-long consultation process which will determine whether Birmingham v Manchester United in Kuala Lumpar is a workable idea or not.

Global plans not dead - Scudamore

What Scudamore has done is pour water over the burning flames of dissent. But his comments don't change the essence of the plans nor the PL's ambition to conquer the world.

Perhaps the most significant aspect of today's developments regards you - the fans.

FA chairman Lord Triesman insists there must be a "real sense of comfort" that the proposals are viable and credible among the whole of football, FANS INCLUDED.

So the question is, now you've had a week or so to digest the Premier League's plans:

Are you feeling comfortable?.....

And, either way, how will you be making your feelings known to the powers that be?

I agree with Stumpedsmiley Scudamore is a Muppet and as such, has someone working him. The money men are behind this, for a totally ineffectual figure such as he was to come up with a ground breaking and potantially damging idea such as this seens out of character. We should, as is suggested, look to who controls this muppet - I am looking at your Mr Murdoch.

Choose city. Choose over 30 years without a major trophy. Choose a corrupt, embezzling, former politician with a suspect human rights record for an owner and consider him a messiah. Choose a council stadium bought for you with money from local taxpayers. Choose to change your kit colour, ground and badge within the space of 5 years and then harp on about your sense of history and tradition. Choose "Munich 58". Choose Frank Swift. Choose Sven Goran Eriksson and wondering where the f * c k you are on a Saturday afternoon. Choose Franny Lee, Alan Ball and Gerry Creaney. Choose £1.4million for Steve Daley. Choose five different managers in a season. Choose Colin Bell over George Best. Choose total, abject failure at the end of it all, blaming and hounding your manager, your chairman, your players, nothing but an embarrassment to the majority of the city from which you hail. Choose your future. Choose city.

Hi Pancho,

Any idea what time the "meeting" kicks off (presumably they're all still having luncheon at the moment) ??

How long does it take to say NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO!! to Messrs Sc, Ed, and Mu ??

Are some posters suggesting bulky brown envelopes ?

"Choose £1.4million for Steve Daley" [[ VF ]]

Now that was the craziest transfer fee ever (well, until Newcastle bought Michael Owen).

All,

Go to the Football Supporters Federation website and sign the petition to ensure that your voice is heard by the PL, and all the clubs in response to the cretinous idea of Scudamore:

The FA have stated their four reasons why it does not like the idea of the 39th game. But there is still a big negative point that the FA and Peter Scudamore have failed to recognise.

Mr Scudamore can sell the Premiership abroad with television by offering a package of live TV and full match coverage on the games with bigger worldwide appeal, and offering less coverage with teams of lesser appeal.

But selling a program of 10 stadia matches is not like selling a single package. Each game has to be marketed and sold to pull in spectators.

If Chelsea draws Arsenal, that would be easy to pull in spectators as these teams have a fan base all over the world. This article quotes the example of Man.Utd versus Birmingham. This fixture will have appeal only because fans will be interested in seeing Manchester United.
Inevitably, there will be fixtures such as Fulham v. Wigan and Middlesbrough v. Reading. Now who will want to watch these games? And if the adjacent city hosts Manchester United v Liverpool, the situation gets worse.

I hope Scudamore and all his other cronies involved with this debacle of an idea gets the sack for this! They purely have no love for the game, just the money! No heart on them, not even a soul. The plan seems to be dead in the water and I hope it finally gets killed for good. Playing home games in Hong Kong? Give me a break!
