Another good win for the boys tonight

Now I know we made hard work of it at the end tonight, but for more than an hour we totally dominated that game, but for their goalkeeper, the score would have and should have been six or seven by then.

Okay we dropped of a bit in the last half hour, but with our make-shift defence it was to be expected that at some time Slavia would have a go at our back four.

Hopefully we can put the game to bed at WHL next week, and it should be perfect preparation for our Cup Final a few days later.

My only concern about to night is that on a number of occasions since Ramos has been with us, he has made a sub and then we have conceded straight after, I hope that this trend will not continue.

Anyway a win away in Europe is not to be scoffed at, and we did what Arsenal could not do we won in Prague.

Spurs will finish this off in the return. Here's to a Spurs v Everton final.

As I said in the Bolton thread, congratualations. Slavia Prague are by no means an easy side, particularly away. I hate all these fans of Champions League teams belittling this competition. They should no better. It is a tough competition against tough teams and Spurs/Bolton/Everton are all doing fantastically.

first half we sauntered into a 2 goal lead, without pushing ourselves at all. we must have had 70+ % possession and territory, felt like it anyway. i thought at HT we could win by 4 goals and play a weakened side in the home leg.

oh well, and cerny failed a simple catch, the one aspect of his game where he is muich better than robbo

cerny has received some unfair press over his mistake. if a striker misses a penalty he doesnt receive half as much flak. the facts are they will be well beaten at WHL and that this was just a warm up to PSV which is when the competition actually starts to get to a level we should be playing at.

i still think we need a keeper. cerny's kicking is dodgy and robinson although world class still on his day is just too inconsistent. i think we should stay british. i think we should buy ben foster. he's number 3 at utd and he's clealy been very good when he's played. just in case he turns out to be a shocker i think we should weight the transfer fee on appearence's and success of the team

I must say I thought we were arrogant in some of our passing (looking at you Berba) and arrogant in trying to take on a man too many (Malbranque, release the ball earlier for gods sake) and had we been a bit more direct could have absolutely finished this off before half time. We will win comfortably at home though.

Archgill, I couldn't agree more. Spurs have had (over the past few years) a problem with doing so well in games we get cocky and concede as we're not that used to it. The players we have are superb, but when they realise this in games they are winning comfortably they tend to start playing little flicks and one touch football with a bit of arrogance that they dont really deserve just yet. And has anybody noticed the subs. Sorry, the media keep going on about Ramos and his tactical nouse, he's got Spurs fit and that is that - and done a bloody good job of it. I was at the lane for the United game, where we dominated posession and kept Ronaldo at arms length with a great defensive display of speed and tracking by Lennon. We were under pressure but he was doing fine. On comes the liability which is Kevin Prince Boateng, and Ronaldo has the freedom of the Lane, Carrick swings ball after ball to him, and Boateng spends all his time getting beaten and sticking his hands in the air to show the ref "i'm not really fouling him mate" - having got nowhere near the guy and had to try tripping him. Poor sub. They came back after extreme pressure down the left and we lost two points.
And last night? Why at 2-0 was Keane taken off? There is no game on Saturday to prepare for, and the game for me (although we were comfortable at the time) is never won at 2-0 away as it is? I hate to moan on but we made hard work of it and you could argue that the preferred Cerny was initially responsible for our demise last night - The guy Ramos brought in to the first team to relieve Robinson of what should still be his duties....
You could argue these points all day but my mind isn't made up on Ramos yet and it wouldn't suprise me if Cerny starts getting slaughtered soon if he makes one more mistake. Pleased with the win though and sure we'll do it next week....

Don't know why you are complaining about Keane being taken off 2-0 give Bent a run, thought he did OK. I think the big mistake was putting O'hara on at FB thought Tanio & Chimbonda were doing fine, O'Hara should have replaced Jenas or Huddlestone to beef up our CMF think thats where we lost it. Late on we didn't get near them in MF & they started dictating to US.

nickaspur1973 if your mind is not made up about ramos what did you think about jol?? you must have hated the man because he was tactically inept with regard to substitutions; his transfer policy questionable and his inability to sort out our defence a liability.

ramos has a track record.
ramos has a track record for playing good passing football (unlike santini for instance)
ramos has already made good signings
ramos has tightened up the defence
ramos has us playing the best football i have ever seen tottenham play (we have played the scum and man u off the park - how many times has that happened over the few years?)

and yes we do also look fit and the team has lost weight (bonus)

why complain?

the bright side of course is a good game in prospect at the lane on thursday, if we had won by a huge margin then i suspect i would be watching a very un entertaining game with all the frustration that that inevitably incurs. coys winkeye
