Robson down and out. Blades on the up.

Well I must admit I'm relieved, but I also have to applaud the management for pulling the plug with an outside chance of still turning the season around.

The club took a risk on Robson in the first place, but it was an admirable risk. It didn't work out and everyone's moved on quickly. Basically, well done SUFC Plc.

For some reason I have a bizarre expectation of two Wembley visits before May's over! Though the next Shefield derby might just bring me back to earth quickly!

Bring on Blackwell! And if he doesn't make the mark, anyone for Terry Venables next season?!?

Of course it's the fans fault.
They insisted he buy the players in the two transfer windows.
They insisted on awful tactics and very poor performances.

I thought SU would go straight back up.
I changed that to "possibly" when Warnock left.
I changed that to "definitely not" when Robson was appointed.

Poor decision, poor treatment of management, the same old story. It's hard to have sympathy for clubs who treat people this way so soon after recruiting them. The club needs rebuiilding, it was never a matter of a 'quick return', a return to what? The Warnock team was crap last year, be honest, there is never a future in replicating that kind of team. Total overhaul required and this is never popular with fans. Good luck Blackwell, you'll need it when the mood shifts against you in a few months.

Excellent news. I expect Blackwell and Ellis to be a great partnership. I was surprised at Robson's appointment, the only saving grace appeared to be that we got Brian Kidd with him but it hasn't worked. They have tinkered with a team that basically was OK. Their changes did not add to the quality of a team that needs good coaching and motivating rather than new players.

Bryan Robson has lost his job, now there is a surprise. He is definately the Alan Ball (bless him) of the current era. A completely c**p manager who always seems to find work.Take out the blind loyalty of Steve Gibson and his end of season luck with West Brom and what did has he achieved in management - nothing

Well done the Blades management for getting rid of such dross.

As an Arsenal fan living in the Northern home counties I keep an eye on the local sides and KB was certainly on the right track at Luton, and has performed well in previous jobs. Good luck to him.

I believe i speak for many neutrals when I say, no sympathy for you if you go down. Same as for Coventry, Luton etc. Aside from the complete madness that grips clubs these days, sacking for little reason or gain, it's not good sense this time of the year.

The gaffer you have in January is the gaffer you must keep till May. There are very few exceptions to this rule, although Blackwell seems as able as anyone to provide it.

Wise had to try and clear up the mess Blackwell left at Leeds. A squad full of old, useless players on ridiculous wages for the division. The signings Blackwell made for Leeds were astonishingly bad.

I think Robson's choice of Kidd as his number 2 reflects his poor judgement.
Once Kidd came out from under Fergie's wings, he fell flat on his face.
No wonder SU had problems with those two in charge.

Despite all the negative stuff on here I believe the right thing was done with regards Robson.Your chairman should have acted sooner though.
He was a great player but could not manage a team.He has turned down the offer of moving upstairs to become director of football ,he probably turned it down as he stands to collect 1 million pounds why work when you can just walk away with that.
Blackwell will do well for you he got Leeds into the playoffs then Bates sacked him unfairly.
Luton were always a team in trouble he did well with what he had there.
Blackwell inherits a good squad of players the whole league was expecting them to challenge for promotion. With Robson out of the equation there should be a turn around in fortune there.
I am glad the mighty Wolves don't meet them again.
Lastly Blackwell is only there until the end of the season he will be motivated to show what he can do to get the positon permanently. The club now has time to interview and make the proper decision of bringing in the football man that they need without being rushed into it like Coventry.
