guitarhero3lad (U11143445) posted Feb 26, 2008 First of all ill try to put as a good comment. Ronaldo was the best of the best in 1998 world cup. His record over the years has been phenomenal. And he is still scoring goals now even though he gets injured a lot. Can`t think of many if not any strikers and can come back from long injuries and keep scoring goals. He is definitely up there with the best of the best of all time not just brazilian strikers and strikers all the over world as he has scored at stadiums all over. Like old trafford when he socred that hat trick against man u i remember the first one where i think he outsprinted ferdinand before scoring i think a angled drive. It will definitely be sad to see him retire but maybe it is the best option for him to retire from football becuase if he keeps coming back and getting injured he could just get an injury that he cannot fully recover from.

goonercolin (U11153905) posted Feb 28, 2008 Where do you begin to explain the genuine talent that is The first Ronaldo. When he attacked a defence it seemed that all of sudden the defenders were scared rather than wanting to stop him. Defenders in Italy and spain such as Fabio Cannavaro and Lillian Thuram have been quoted as saying they feared him. He made mugs out of the best players out there and still his ranking as a true great is scoffed at because he has been injured or overweight over the last 2 years. If you compare the current 3 best (kak,c.ronaldo, messi) i dont think any of them are at the level ronaldo was at when he was injury free, let alone when he peaked (1996-1998) He is the best striker of all time and should be placed in the top 10 of all time. Not only was he a talent so unique because of his pace, dribbling, finishing and vision of the game but he mostly handled himself in a humane and dignified manner. His charity work was an ample example of the fact that he had an idea that the world was not just football. No question if he had not suffered all this injuries we would be talking about him, and not pele/maradona as the God of football. I would say Thierry Henry at his peak was a poor mans Ronaldo (i support arsenal and i say this) and that Ronaldo strutted his stuff in the more calculating environment of serie A and la liga rather than the headless chicken defending of english football. Get well soon Ronnie, and come back and score in South Africa 2010 because football needs you.

Spain's Finest Gooner (U7666936) posted Mar 2, 2008 The man could have been the greatest player of all time ever if he didn't get injured. At Barca he was the absolute best and nobody in any era could come anywhere near that type of striker.
