Keith Lamb.......

Middlesbrough
comment on the article

.........I hate the guy. He reminds me of a dodgy car salesman trying to make a quick buck. Now he's saying he's well up for selling the club abroad and dragging the team half way across the world to play an extra game, which people who have been supporting the club and buying season tickets for years wouldn't be able go to.

If he's so eager to sell Middlesbrough Football club and make money from foreign fans, why can you only buy a Boro top at the Riverside or in Captain Cook Square? Does he expect people to travel from Shanghai to Boro just to buy a cheaply made Errea top?

After Southgate's comments about how ridiculous it would be to play league games abroad, I thought Boro might be one club who resists selling out, but i guess I was wrong since we have Teesside's answer to Del Boy running the show. He obviously just see's an opportunity to sell some cheap 'Bolex' watches abroad or summat.

If that idiot gets his way I'm going to start going to Billy Synners games on a Saturday, at least theres some integrity still in the game at that level.

Rant over.

Forlan was top goalscorer in Spain the other year - Smith is still crap, but if we wanted him there was a reason. Lamb does take the hit from the fans if any of SG's ideas don't work but he hardly inspires confidence. There is a good argument that we should be looking for a real negotiator as even at 50k a year he would save us his salary many times over.

I am not a fan of Keith Lamb, never have been, and yeah it stems from 96/97 but if any of us had cost our companies what he cost the club and the town then we wouldn't be in the post 10 years later.

However if we can go and play for 90 minutes and be £5m richer lets do it - we need money to compete, well here you go - towards a player or wages who knows

You are missing the point pmidge, probably deliberately.

Keith Lamb was not at the meeting in which the Chairmen gave "unanimous support" to the 39th game. Steve Gibson was there, hence the 39th game has Gibsons support and it is his decision for the clubs involvement.

As for Smith and Forlan you can not blame Lamb for that, in fact lamb completed his part of the deal with aplomb. Deals were agreed with both players they just got offers from bigger clubs they preferred to join. In Smith's case thank God for that.

Lamb says he will consider anything that will bring more money into the club – does h not realize that if these plans go ahead every club in the premiership will be getting the same amount of money so effectively it will not help him compete against other premiership clubs – if anything the big 4 might get more money so the gap will widen

There is no logical reason to do this

Although it may make us no more than than other english clubs it will give us more than other european clubs. i am not behind the proposal at all but trying to find the positives this is just about all i can come up with.

and it's certainly better making money this way than through the signings of players like the Gook!

Also Finn723 the club lost 17 million last year so 5 million woould be very welcome, it could be the differwence between signing a new player or not.

For the record Im very much against the game as it ruins the integrity of the league. How can it be fair is say Bolton got relegated by one point if they played Chelsea 3 times while Wigan stayed up after playing Derby 3 times?

5 million for 1 game would be welcome at any club, but the fact remains when it comes to competing against other premiership clubs it means nothing because every club will get it

The only reason to do this is for a club to earn a bit more money, the reasons against doing it are endless

I'm a BORO fan and amazed at Keith Lamb's comments.

We've resisted the temptation to sell out to a foreign investor but we'll take their money this way. Shabby!

As I've said before, no team in their right mind will want a third game against one of the top 4.

If that's the case, why should the top 4 be seeded so that they don't have to play each other again. Talk about discrimination against the bottom half of the table.

Premier League Chairmen unanimously agreed to consider the 39th game, no final decision has been made yet. I'm not missing any point, Steve Gibson, or for that matter any Chairmen, have not cast their final vote yet. So until Gibson votes in favour of the game, or he publicly comes out in support of it ala Keith Lamb, I don't think he deserves criticism

If he thinks that Boro will get anything like 5 million quid for that extra game unless it's played against any of the greedy, sorry.. big four he's living in dream land.

Personally I'd love it it they did get Man United, got battered 4-0 and went down by a point. Wouldn't that be a shame eh?
