I think chambers did his time and should be allowed back into the olympics as he is clearly britain's best chance for a medal at the 100m

i think furthermore uk athletics would only be promoting the idea of mediocraty if they had prevented chambers from taking part in the europeans. however i do accept the view that this would seem to condone drug taking, but so long as chambers is clean now, surely he should be allowed to continue to compete as long as he is still as clearly talented as he is.... afterall we are encouraged to allow former drug users to integrate into society and i dont have any problems with this and so dont see why it should be any different in the case of athletics.

Chambers was the relativly minor offence of doping, a simple way of natural body enhancement. He wasnt actually harming other athletes, bribing/threatening officials ect

I have never seen such a stupid comment, if he was not 'harming' anyone how come it is illegal to take drugs, DOH!

I went to the birmingham meet yesterday. I was disapointed that chambers wasn't invited to run it. surely Uk athletics are only hurting themselves here as if chambers cannot compete in many serious events then he will not perform in Valencia. An they also need to drop the vendetta against him

As a christian i believe everyone should have a second chance. in the christian church today remarraige is an accepted thing. as the church believes that though people do makemistakes; which in young dwanes case he certainly did; surely he should be able to be forgiven and like a marraige be re united to a past love- atheletics? how can i add a smiley with this notification? (seriously i dont know how to)

kisses

The blame should be placed where it belongs for causing confusion
The various authorities from IOC down have unclear rules constructed in my opinion to leave the door open for drug cheats because there are so many now they are the rule rather than the exception at the top I mean
Without athletes there would be no games or money to support them
Once Pandors Box was opened its like trying to change direction after leaping off the Empire State building
Its as easy for sport to be clean as it is to be a little bit pregnant

It is the British athletics board that got it wrong. Dwain should have got a ban for life.

If we want athletics to be clean from drugs, athletes must be clean in body and in mind. Dwain may now be clean from drugs in body, but in his mind - he is not. Dwain has proven that if he can get away with cheating he will cheat. This kind of thinking cannot be accepted, and contravenes the promotion of drug free ahtletics.

I think Dwain has every right to come back beacuse in 2006 he came back and competed at the European Championships and no-one apart from darren campbell lol So why start bothering now he has served his time.

Also America just give there athletes a little warning and sume positive drug tests you never even hear about they keep it covered up but Britain can't let one man who has already returned once before return to athletics...........I think its pathetic ! grr

The man has served him time. He made a mistake, and was punished. That UK athletics have since felt they screwed up by taking him off the register is not his fault, and retrospective legislation and these spiteful comments about denying him clubs and training partners and coaches is despicable.
To ban him from meetings and training with others is morally indefensible- it is also amking a mockery of the laws of this country and the whole idea of criminal legislation. If one commits a crime- eg. fraud, and serves his time in prison, and then comes out you CANNOT a)deny him the chance to redeem himself or b) effectively stick him back in prison later on if you decide the law is not tough enough. The comments from Steve Cram and Kelly Holmes are like listening to witchfinders

Chambers has done his time, let him run and prove that he can win medals without taking drugs. He took drugs, two years ago, unless there strong drugs they've gone now and look what he did to his competition. I read what craig pickerings trainer said and he blamed pressure on why craig ran so badly. The sheer fact of the matter is that chambers is faster than pickering, more experience ? or just generally faster ? too me hes just faster, a better athlete. Let chambers run, he can win medals, he can help british athletics back to glory, 2 years ago he did a bad thing but now hes clean and faster than ever, let him run and let him win.

Leave him alone indeed. He is an athlete and so his current state (ie very muscly) should not surprise anyone and i cant believe he still feels the effects 4 years on. He never told the british athletics that he had retired and he moved to a sport (NFL europe) which is a WADA approved sport. To say that he just took drugs during that time is ridiculous.

I agree that drug users should be given life-bans and should have done 4 years ago. HOWEVER they were not and I cannot believe the number of people calling for retrospective punishment, its like someone being given 2 years in jail then told at the end of that, have another 5. Yes now anyone caught for drugs offences should be banned for life from sport and those medical excuses that are always used should be quashed, but Dwain was banned during a different time and he must be now allowed to continue to run.

A lot has been said about giving our youngsters a chance but are they really that good? Pickering, albeit suffering from a virus, crumbled under the pressure (will there not be that level of pressure competing in the Olympics this summer?!) and not many people can name more than 3 or 4 athletes in Britain. Id prefer Dwain to go with a realistic chance of getting a medal rather than these sorry excuses for athletes, given funding to be mediocre
