In an effort to get away from the tedious and cyclical drugs debates, I decided to ask which athletes you think will make it big in 2008.

Which breakthrough athletes do you think have a chance to take medals in Beijing?

Okoro will walk away with two medals from Beijing.

I don't see either Ohurougu or Sanders making an individual challenge but the relay team is looking stronger and stronger. Chris will have another year behind her, which will undoubtably make her quicker, and Lee will have had another year on the flat which will help her speed come along.

The two 4X100m realy teams are looking formidable, which sends out a positive note.

Mara, Paula and Jo could all be in with a shout, but again i am not holding my breath.

It won't be a steller performance by the brits but i sense that we could surprise a few, with further 800m success.

Personally, I feel that both Christine Ohuruogu and Nicola Sanders stand a strong chance of medalling in Beijing, look poised to improve a great deal on last year and have very sensibly given the indoor term a miss. Apart from Sanya Richards, they are second to none else and the American is also troubled with the Bechets syndrome, which makes her a liability at major champs where rounds are involved. As a matter of fact, I reckon that one of the two British girls will land inside 49 secs this season...

Early season results from indoors are good, and some surprises amongst them to. Add to that a number of athletes coming back from injury then the whole outlook does look promising as regards to success. Wouldn't say individually who will medal, but look towards the heptathlon, decathlon, 3 out of the 4 relays, womens 400m, mens and womens middle and long distances too. I do feel that GB could spring a surprise in one of the sprints to. Away from the track the mens jumps all look full of promise as does the womens javelin on last years form. Come the outdoor season we will be able to tell more but having read whats been said so far about warm weather training and seeing the indoor results and yes i'm more than optimistic.

Asafa Powell will overcome his big final jitters, and take the gold medal in the 100 metres final!

I just love your spirit Mike Siva! Although I 'd put my money on Tyson Gay to pull another double!

I think Asafa Powell, he's got to do it at some stage. He has ran the 4 fastest times of all time !

dont forget the olympics is a very different "ball-game" - often underdogs with mental toughness come away with the medals...

unless your the favourite - however even those have their blips
