BW Week 7: Murray def. Ancic 6-3 6-4British Tennis by Ruggers (U3472595) 09 February 2008 It's a Double Murray week as Jamie Murray with Mirnyi conquered Delray Beach, and Andy Murray won in Marseille. Andy Murray [4], Men's Singles Andy Murray claimed the fifth title of his career, second this season, with victory over Mario Ancic in the Marseille final.Road to the Championship R1: Huta Galung [Q] 6-4 6-4 R2: Wawrinka 3-6 7-6(5) 6-1 QF: Mahut 7-5 7-6(5) SF: Mathieu [8] 6-2 6-2 F: Ancic [WC] Ancic had been serving well all week, but against Murray he could only muster one ace past him in the first set, four in total. Murray currently leads the ‘points won returning first serve’, and was able to consistently return Ancic’s serve with depth. Murray’s first-serve percentage was again mediocre, but his ace count reached double digits, often producing the big serve in important moments. The match saw some great winners, mixed with more scrappy moments, but it was an entertaining and hard-fought final nevertheless. Murray/Mirnyi “Stretch and the Beast" Jamie Murray pulled off the biggest win in his career, beating World No. 1 the Bryan brothers in the final with his new partner Max Mirnyi. They have grown so much as a partnership this week, improving with each match.[2], Road to the Championship R1: Garcia-Lopez/Serra 3-6 7-6(5) 11-9 QF: Hanescu/Hutchins 3-6 6-4 10-5 SF: Huss/Kuznetsov 7-5 6-1 F: Bryan/Bryan [1] In the final each service game was initially a struggle for Team 'M&M' and they were making no impression on the Bryan's service games, However out of the blue they got a late break and served out to take the first set. Though they then lost the second they came through the super-tiebreak to win. It means Jamie, like Andy, has defended all ranking points this week. Andy Murray is annoying and whats a bit of humour on a tennis forum. In fact Davser - I have scrolled through the posts and there are some anti Scottish messages. As I say they are not to be taken seriously, give back in kind, and as Michael Mates MP once stated "Don't let the buggers get you down" But most of all respond with humour not getting on your high horse all the time.

potrodelpicasso (U9545628) posted Feb 18, 2008 Not sure Button was defending GB, but rather his team and himself. AM, when playing for GB, which he doesn't (at least not lately) should not wear symbols of his region or even village. It should be GB. In reply to another post, at least I can spell racket. To the "warts and all" poster, why? I dislike Murray but like Nadal. Why should I support Murray in an individual sport, unless he has decided to play DC, when indeed it would be a team sport (too complicated for some, perhaps)? Give DC ranking points and see how his precautionary measures become overcautionary measures. To Debsonthesofa: I want England and GB to win (Scotland to lose for healthy rivalry reasons), I have just pointed out that we hardly ever win at anything except snooker and darts (and not even by cheati.., I mean bending the rules, do we get a new F1 champion).

Debsonthesofa (U8613128) posted Feb 18, 2008 I think you'll find Potro that AM doesn't wear a saltire when he does play for team GB. Thats reserved for when he's playing for himself. I see I'm back to being 'Debsonthesofa' again...
