MartinJSUK (U8018705) posted Feb 11, 2008 Stevens has always underwhelmed me a little. His consistant poor performances in best-of-9 matches, plus a tendency to crack under pressure, explain why he's not a top 16 player. I can't really see him fulfilling the potential he's regarded as having.

BulletMonkey (U7050289) posted Feb 11, 2008 Jimmy is the greatest player outside the top 16, but not on the basis of most of what he's produced in the last few seasons. There are still flashes of it, usually in relatively-important games for him.

midnightOracle (U8313110) posted Feb 12, 2008 bullet. don't ever use paul hunter's name as material for a sarcastic comment. its totally distasteful. Jimmy IS the greatest player outside of the top 16 no question. but we all know that he is way past his best. the question is obviously who on current or recent form is the best out of the top 16. like most i would say marco fu on current form and probably matthew stevens (who deserves to be there).

wildsnooker_loopy (U3853272) posted Feb 12, 2008 I think Marco Fu, but Jamie Cope is decent too, and I think Matthew Stevens still has another run of good form in him. But the talent from 16 below is still incredible, I mean look at Higginson last year in this tourney i think it was, anyone can go on a run with some confidence. All have talent or would not be a pro.

diesel1984 (U9960704) posted Feb 13, 2008 I would go for Mark Williams - he is provisionally outside the top 16. A two time world champion, won all the televised events in a single calendar year and is one of the only left handers to have lost the number one ranking and regained it.
