Australia got 148 on this pitch and Hussey complained about its slowness. NZ were brilliant in the field. That is where the game was won. England couldn't get singles, they couldn't get boundaries through lack of pace.
Bell and Pietersen took a chance by trying to hit out and paid the price. They were out of their comfort zone. Both are good batsmen but the pitch needed sloggers. Opening pair NZ provided that but on a different pitch they could be vulnerable to examination. The run outs were caused by top fielding squeezing the batsmen who panicked. Great cricket actually. NZ played intelligently on a pitch that was their comfort zone. Cricket is a great sport that is played in the mind as well as on the field. That is why it has collapses. England have to keep their nerve and analyse the situation and outsmart their opponents.

It's very disappointing from England, they must do better.

So it was just a 'blip'?? They put out the same side with the same result - humiliation.

Shocking display - the coaching staff want to look at what they are doing.

Bell was a disgrace - has he never heard of drawing the curtain when not playing at the ball? Bopara is a bag of nerves.

On Sky all we heard was that idiot from Lancashire - LLoyd - talking about Jesse Ryder not being an Arthur Blenkinsopp. He needs to go!

Boycott was more measured on the radio but we cant get past this was a very poor display.

Poor display indeed, but the Kiwis deserve a lot of credit. This series was never going to be the cakewalk that some people thought.

We have the talent. The selectors put out what many people would consider to be the strongest side, but they just didn’t apply themselves, especially our middle order.
