Aloysius Jumbo (U1683371) posted Feb 8, 2008 As a Swindon fan, I really hope things work out for Bournemouth. It's an awful time for the club and its supporters. What riles even more, is that the FA are to rake in £240m if PL games are played abroad. How about that £240m being dished out amongst lower league clubs so that they don't have to face the indignity of administration?

legendsofanfield (U9461553) posted Feb 8, 2008 As a Liverpool fan who has seen quite a few Bournemouth games (family live down there) i wish the club all the very best in sorting this out. However its a sad indicment of english football that the PL make millions and millions and cant help out the smaller clubs. It sickens me that the PL (including my club) cant or WONT do a thing to help the FL clubs. Fat cats getting fatter. As a personal protest im about to cancel my subscription to SkySports...if the PL wont help they wont get my money.

kiwipuskas (U1891697) posted Feb 8, 2008 Teams like Bournemouth are forced into administration because of the flow-on effect of ridiculous wages being paid in the Premier League. Teams relegated from the PL import those wages into the Championship with their parachute payments and the result is that inevitably clubs have to pay more than they can really afford to keep players that will make them competitive. The alternative is repeated relegation and ultimately non-league football or even extinction.

PragueImp (U1996526) posted Feb 8, 2008 My very first live football match was Bournemouth v Lincoln City in April 1981. My dad drove me down there (we lived near Andover then) and I was really happy to see the Imps in action (and a 0-1 win!). A typical small town friendly club.

SON OF A FOX (U9044367) posted Feb 8, 2008 I think the best way for lower league clubs is for them to go back to the old version of the league i.e. Division 2/3 North & South that way clubs with lower incomes can reduce the costs of travel & improve crowds as there would be more local derby's.
