Ding Junhui

comment on the article

What do you guys think of his progress so far ?

We all remember his winning of the UK Championships in 2005 as an 18 year old. Before that he won his home tournament the China Open, and has since won the NI Open. But since 2006, he has not won a major event.

The Masters Final in 2007 took a lot out of him mentally, when he almost gave up with a few frames still undecided in that match.

His century count has gone over the 100 mark, hit a 147 last year in the Masters and is the biggest name in his home country China.

What do you think he can acheive over the next few years - will he be one of those players with loads of potential, but never quite realises it ?

He won't win 5 WCs, not because he ain't good enough but because there are too many other good players about that winning a title these days is almost a lottery!

He certainly has the ability, I think like people have said the masters took alot out of him. I personally believe he needs to improve his temperment slightly before he wins another, major however some of his form in the premier league was sensational and I wouldn't be suprised at all if he was to win in Sheffield in the next few years

The way he opens the pack is as good as anyone. From the earliest part of the frame he is looking to clear. His big problem is when he is frustrated by position loss and takes on one ball too many. Add a little craft to his game and he will no doubt be a multiple WORLD CHAMP.

Seeing him late last year in the premier league he seemed to have matured a little and this last few days even moreso.
I woudnt like to back against him in malta or the welsh but I think he has got to win one of them to go up a level in his head, if he does then surely the world title will be a real possibility and maybe a few more over the years.
If he doesnt win anything this year then I think he is going to be under enormous pressure, and maybe it wont happen for him.
He is not a novice anymore.

I actually don't think there aren’t to many players that can win the world this year, but Ding would be one of them.

Ronnie- Doesn’t need an explanation
John Higgins - Very experienced, can handle the nerves and tension
Murphy - is showing good form again
Ding - Has the talent, will experience at the crucible come into play??

I was very impressed with Ding last night, let's wait and see what happens tonight. I think he is more satisfied with his performance even when he loses, he looks more at ease, as if he is just going to see where the match takes him.

Ding could still become embassador this year, let's not rule him out.

In my Opinion he will never win a world championship because he just has not got the temperment. IDont get me wrong I like the way the guy playes the game and he can be BRILLIANT but its so frustrating watching him. When the pressure comes on , as it did in the Masters against Fu and last week against Murphy he cant handle the heat.
