Formula One
comment on the article

The Scuderia Toro Rosso drivers topped the time sheets on the second day of testing at Circuit de Catalunya. The team topped the times with Sebastian Vettel in the team's B-Spec car. The team was just ahead of McLaren drivers Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen.

On Saturday the eight Formula 1 teams continued their three-day test in Spain. The day was stopped with red flags several times. Among the drivers that had to stop their car on track were Vettel, Kubica, Button and Bourdais.

The day was witnessed by over 20,000 Spanish fans in the grandstand. Sunday will be the third and final day of testing at Circuit de Catalunya.

Yeah the alonso affect for sure - once he retires the fickle Spaniards will move on and forget about F1.

I'd assume the consensus is that Toro Rosso were running on fuel vapour? Otherwise no great surprises in the times, as far as I can see.

Wasn't Force India the fastest a couple of days ago. What does testing mean as for who is best?

'F1FanUSA'-
Force India was 4th fastest on friday (1st Feb.) with Fisichella. He was probably running very light on fuel with fresh tyres and trying to go flat out. He was more then a second faster than qualifying time set by Spyker in Spain last year.

at the end of the day - testing is held to allow the FIA and Ferrari to get a good look at who their main competition is, to look at what the main competition have on their cars that makes them fast - and ban it to ensure we have another boring red fest.

We need a unbiased ruling body who does not have Ferrari members (but no other team members) on it board.

All the teams are trying different tactics so it is hard to use these tests as a genuine measure of performance, while it is clear the new McLaren is fast, the first true test will be when they arrive in Melbourne in just under 6 weeks time.
