What Happened There?

England

I've never witnessed a game of rugby like it. England threw the game away, after putting in a frighteningly effective first half display.

What was the half time talk about? Was there lots of arrogant, back-slapping, 'job done' crap?

Well done Wales- best come-back since Lazarus. England brought you back to life by a second-half performance that will go down in the history of rugby as the worst display ever. The red rose wilted on every England shirt.

I thought that when Cipriani came on he should have played Fly-half. England needed something special and he was more likely to provide it than Wilkinson
Plus as a newbie it would have been easier for him to play where he plays week in week out.
Sheridan played well but why did he pass to Gomersall - it was that pass that cost us the game as it gifted them a try

the problem is the management, England blew it under pressure (TCUP brains not running) when experience left the field the leadership in the backs and forward was non exist and JW cannot do it all. We have the players and skills, we lack confident and competent management and direction above BA. Where is that fellow Rob Andrew - distancing him self from his poor decision making - thats England's problem.

I am sick of the arrogance and we have a right to win attitude of some English supporters. THIS IS THE VERY REASON THAT EVERYBODY ELSE SUPPORTS THE TEAMS YOU PLAY.
When England lose its either blame
a)the referee
b)Brian Ashton (replace that with whoever is the coach at the time)
c)Jonny Wilkinson
or A.N.Other. It matters not so long as you have somebody to blame

You do not have the good grace to admit that you played well in the first half and didnt get the points your possesion and territory dominance deserved BUT not because of any other reason than a tremendous defensive display.
In the second half roles were reversed and Wales had the lions share of possesion and territory and made it count.
The errors by the English team were errors made under pressure from a team who had come out fighting to preserve their dignity.
So PLEASE have the good grace to admit you were beaten by a team who wanted it more and played their equal part in what was an entertaining game if strewn with errors by boith sides and no more of this arrogant bovine muck that some of you have been spouting about your God given right to beat Wales and the other teams you play in the 6 nations.
The fact is you lost on Saturday Hold your heads up- dust yourselves down and look forward to the next game and stop behaving like wendy ball supporters

BA is to blame for the weird selection and only BA. I have difficulty in understanding how a coach of international standard has the gaul to say he didn't understand what went wrong. It's his job to undersatand and correct. I agree with some of the earlier comments about people playing out of position being strange in the extreem . Maybe we will see Sheridan on the wing in Rome. Nothing would surprise me any more

The bench was weird.

Why no Hipkiss after his magnificent performances in the WC?

Would he not have been a much better replacement for Tindall and given England's attack more focus?

Vainikolo was a good hunch and Tom Rees played well, but the other subs?

The match against france in Paris is very important now. it'll depend on what kind of team Marc Lievermont picks but if it is the same as the starting XV fron sunday then I'll expecting to win that game and if we don't then Catt and Dallagios comments post RWC will be remembered as will Ashton's record as Ireland coach and people won't be in the mood for another Andy robinson fiasco. Fans won't stand for england wasting the next three years. we passionate fans, We'll always suport the team but we won't accept ineptitude. I want to see big improvements in Paris in a few weeks time.

Oscassie, the rest of the British Isles want England to lose because we're brought up to hate the English. Don't say it's for any other reason. Don't try and make excuses for this irrational behaviour on our part.
I live in England (well Geordieland) and have come to realise how pathetic this 'sibling rivalry' is. They don't give a stuff and want all the home teams to win. Grow up and get the chip off your shoulder- it looks ugly!

The arrogance of expecting to win strongly resides with people who are desperate.

JPR voiced the desperation of Wales in the Sunday Times.

Frankly who cares if we lose one game as long as the team selection improves and the injury jinx sorts itself out.

We'll always perform better than Wales in the WC and the future looks brighter for England than it does for Wales.

I remember a game like this against the french in Paris about 3-4 years ago. How can a team like england not score a point in the whole of the second half. Criminal. Leadership on the park has to be called into question - the team was right for the job so it cant be the management fault all the time.
