We should of have scored 3 trys in the first quarter to close the game out, we squandered numerous chances but the italian pack were outstanding, o'callaghan and wallace had good games whilst leamy had a great start. Their foundation are their but changes should be made for next week (heaslip, Mick O'driscoll, bowe etc

we have always had a poor start to the six nations and to be honest Italy never looked like scoring, o'gara and redden were great and kearney done well when given the chance

frustrating start for ireland: they started well and should have killed italy off in the 1st half, but too many errors and wrong decision making. i thought easterby, best and murphy were poor, and that o'gara had a bit of a mixed one, not his best in terms of execution. on the plus side, i thought reddan, o'callaghan and kearney had good games

George Hook - who I don't always agree with - wrote a remarkably insightful article in the indo today. In hindsight, the man is a true prophet: http://www.independent.ie/sport/rugby/six-nations-2008/comment-analysis/ireland-stagnate-as-our-rivals-look-to-the-future-1279729.html
Off with their heads indeed; or at least with Eddie's.

Italy missed 2 pen's if they had a better kicker that would have been Italy's second away win and possibly EOS job gone. The luck of the irish springs to mind, I give up on IRFU when will they learn that EOS is not up to the job in hand.

OMEGADANGEROUS

Are you blind. If Trimble is the best you have don't bother going to France. Apart from the try, he is clueless. His Running lines and defence are akin to schoolboy rugby, no offence intended schoolboys.
In addition why does ur coach not play Murphy at FB? What's happened to ur lineout?

Ireland's team are now past their prime & peaked a year ago. This was a dire match littered with mistakes & both teams could be heading for the wooden spoon.

What the hell happened to our lineout? It used to be a great attacking option but we were woeful. We harldy ever challanged their lineout and lost too many of ours.

We still have great backs and our best attacks came from letting them run fast and wide.

Why was Redan taken off ? - again one of our best attacking options, not a good managment decision, we were harldy cruising at that point!

I saw very little to be hopeful for in the future. We should have put that game to bed in the 1st half.

Redden was the only player on the Ireland side to impress me yesterday.. Overall yet another poor performance - admittedly against an 'Italy' that has vastly improved.
Lots of mistakes and really poor lineouts. Just look at the statistics.

Ive said it many times.. Ireland need to 'Do a Scotland' and get their asses in the gym to bulk/muscle up a bit. The whole team - but especially the forwards..

They also need to have some momentum when they are looking for the ball.. How are you expected to break through the defence when you receive the ball standing still?? Lost count of the amount of times this happened yesterday (and during the world cup).

Ireland must improve or they will be competing for the wooden spoon...

Hate to say it, but Eddie must go...

I have to agree with Blarney boy EOS must go. He only has one dimension to his game plan.
Lion george. Since O'Driscol has not had a crash centre since Maggs or Henderson he has struggled to really shine. He needs a crash inside centre like Trimble or Horgan to keep defences guessing and better still to wrap up the midfield to give him space to show off his brilliance.

I don't disagree with your analysis. However I don't think Trimble is the man for the job. Hope I'm wrong! Would love to see you turn over the old froggies!!!

EOS has run out of ideas and needs to go, saturday selection will have Horgan in and no other changes, we could all guess his team!
What is the future in that, SAME OLD SAME OLD
Was at leicester on Friday, he played horgan and Fitzgerald both at centre-WHAT!!!!!
Horgan is still not match fit, maybe the bench?
