Daveyboy (U10417890) posted Feb 2, 2008 yep yep very biased and one sided article.whats this anti beckanism?..haha!,yeh becks did'nt make the squad but i have 2 agree with capello, not only since becks is not match fit,i think he would have done well in the friendly but he needs that push to perform at the level he is caple of,the same way England needs thats push to play something near their full potential.

scaffoo (U8927446) posted Feb 3, 2008 MrPassandMove - I get a slight feeling that you don't like Beckham lol. I must say, I can't in all sensibleness agree with your comment that he 'ran around like a headless chicken instead of calming his players down. If I remember correctly, he was the only one who could be bothered to play that day. I'm not a 'Beckham till we die' fan, but I think you need to give the guy a little more credit than that. I haven't seen a player wear the shirt with more pride in a long time, or give 100% to the limit of his ability. No-one should be a permanent fixture in a squad, but even playing MLS in a different continent he can still come back and give England an extra dimension under a clueless manager that they dont have when he's not playing. I do feel that he is part of an old system of play that has lost it's vision is in serious need of updating. There are no ideas and so we rely on what we know. I hope that Capello can organise the squad, play the right players in their proper club positions, nurture the talent, reward it and make us look like a football team again. But you have to give more credit to the likes of Beckham for the graft that they have put in. Lest we forget, the fans and the media made him into a 'god' figure, so it's the typical English thing to do, build up the icon then yank the rug out from under them when they are rich or famous or great and then curse their demise like they were never that great anyway. We hate anyone too successful, but there is a generation of young talent coming through in the next decade who put their football boots or trainers on and went out to the park or the street because they saw Beckham play. The man deserves a little credit.

harveton (U6995949) posted Feb 3, 2008 I'd give him his 100th cap on the proviso he ,plus the rest of the brand beckham circus, immediately fly off to La La land, very appropriate for that weird bunch, never to be seen or heard from again. If he could also take his new best friend with him,Gordon McBroon I'll be eternally grateful!!Beckham praising McBroon means his peerage will soon be in the post.Capello has done the right thing by not picking him,we don't need anymore of that crap.
