Cup of Nations - day 12

African Nations Cup
comment on the article

The final two group games at the Africa Cup of Nations are upon us.

Three days from now the quarter-finals will be getting underway and who from Group D is going to join Ghana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Egypt and Cameroon in the last eight?

You can follow all the action here: news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foo...

Tunisia and Angola, who face each other at 1700 GMT in Tamale are in pole position with four points from two games.

Senegal and South Africa, who compete in Kumasi at the same time, are fighting for their lives.

A draw between the Cathage Eagles and Palancas Negras will confirm their passage, leaving many people's tips Senegal red-faced and inexperienced South Africa to their predictable group-stage exit.

But, should a winner emerge from both matches, we could well see one of the Teranga Lions or Bafana Bafana progress.

Basically, if Senegal win they need Angola to defeat Tunisia to stand a chance. If South Africa win they need Tunisia to beat Angola to stand a chance.

Confused? Click here for the full permutations: news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foo...

It promises to be a spectacular day of football and I want plenty of interaction from you, ladies and gentlemen.

Seeing as this is the final day of group action it would be wrong of me not to ask for your highlights from the past 10 days in Ghana.

Let the debate commence...

'Oh, I'm just warming up, me!

Snow forecast tomorrow youll need to get pretty hot tonight. which doesnt seem likely'

Tell me about it! We've had intermittent power cuts today, (just come back on again as I write) due no doubt to the strong winds, and now blizzards tomorrow, even forecast for Arran which doesn't usually get much in the way of snow due to its weather largely coming from the Gulf Stream.

Oh well, if our power goes down again tomorrow, I'll just have to challenge my wife to a snowball fight. Trouble is, she'll probably win...

I think the fact that players of African descent want to play for England just underscores how good the race and ethnic relations in England is compared to that of France. I mean the ethnic riots in France would be almost unimaginable in England, let alone college graduates of African descents being unable to find jobs because they are from Africa. If Nigeria wants a player like Gabby to play for them just hope that England becomes a really bigoted and deluded society.

As<a matter of fact they do like thats why kanoute drogba the whole mali team some of senegal couldnt get into the french team because other african descent guys were already selected,
Concerning the graduates its the game u cant get a job create urself a job

"Group D has been very underwhelming as a whole. It really doesn't matter who qualifies from here...they will be sent packing by Egypt and Cameroon in the next round."

Group D was as tight as it alwsy looked.
The 2 that are out were good butSenegal clearly not the side they were, yet.

I was impressed with South Africa mind you and the way ahead looks good for 2010 for them.

They played very slick football.

Mikel in a dream team?? You jest surely! For me he is very lightweight and always looks as pleased that he conned a wee foul as played a good ball.

He has a lot to do yet generally to be a player.

Indeed, Joof is a disgrace. The coach did the right thing and he should be suspended from the senegalese team indefinitely. Too many of these fools don't know a time to quit being a fool. There are many players in Senegal today, if promoted and supported can take Senegal to the next level. That applies to all the teams in the tournament.

Is there anything too hard for our God; if he helped us to win against Nigeria...... He who has begun a good work will perform it untill the day of Jesus Christ. Amen Ghanaians are the winners in all the matches and the cup will be ours
