Khan's road map for 2008

I dont normally like starting articles but anyways here I goes..

A frequent debate what seems to take place on here is about the quality of Khans opponents, I agree to an extent that some have been totally useless but then again he is young, learning his trade and needs to move one step at a time (regardless of what Khan himself says ie 'Il fight for a World Title tommorow'). i think the current opponent, Gairy StClair, is most definetly a good choice and a step in the right direction. Hopefully there will be a test of some sort, ie a few good punches connecting and the fight lasting past six rounds, although I suspect some of the doubters may then say 'Look at khan, struggling against an old man' etc etc.

There are no guarantees that Khan will win on Saturday, but providing he does, who would you guys recommend he fight later on in the year? I've heard much talk of 'Tough Mexicans' and what not, but what names have we got? It would be interesting to hear.

Cheers

BlakkMamba, maybe your bitter after Khan mauled Earl Grey, but I think you'l find pretty much EVERY SINGLE punch connected when he had him on the ropes and would have done SERIOUS damage was the fight to carry on. You also mention that Khan likes to bully people on the ropes? Nothing wrong if the opposition cant fight back, last I remembered boxing was about beating the other person...

I'm in no doubt as to Khan's ability and potential. But he is increasingly expressing the desire to fight for a World title ASAP. I just don't know how he will manage when the opportunity arrives especially if he jumps from fighting hand picked opponents or like Earl (fought straight after a TKO loss) and St.Clair (natural feather/lost meaningful fights at higher weight), guys who are in all actuality, pretty low-risk.

Khan and FW are two diff people, Khan has ambition, which should be applauded yes, but FW is a lil more sensible and is not going to fall on his knees to Khan's every request and simply hand him a title shot.

I agree marlon. And i do think Khan has a glass jaw. He was rocked when limmond hit him. When he Finaly faces someone that can bang, its sleep time! You cant hide forever! If your going out in the rain, your gonna get wet!.

true all u fans out there khan will win on saturday warren would not have taken the fight if it were not 80% in khans favour and i dont blame him
khan is still young and needs 2 learn, he 4gets that the main champ baby bull juan diaz is only 24 yrs young and has been a champ since he was 20 yrs young and them u have wbc champ david diaz who retired morales and even though he his 32 would still be way 2 much 4 khan at the mo, then there is aussie bruiser micheal katditis at 26 yrs old and no way warren puts him in wth him
point is khan wont fight and should not fight 4 a genuine world title 4 a couple of 2-3 yrs even 4 yrs
wheather warrren will bow 2 khans demands is another thing but if khan fights any of the above this yr they will RUIN HIM and warren knows that and deep down so does khan
khan is good but not that good yet
at 25-26 yrs old then yes let the man go which am sure if he will stay wth warren thats wot frank will do ala ricky hatton

Khan is not a particularly big lightweight, so these guys he is fighting are comparitive to toy figures.Surley there must be a genuine lightweight he can fight? Listen, i know everybody has to have these kind of fights but the difference is everybody else's learning curves are not headline fights. There are guys out there like junior witter who has never headlined on itv. This is ridicoulous because with the exception of maywethaer witter has been mixing in better company for years. I dont remember hagler hearns or duran having big light early fights. Its audley and hatton and naz all over again - loads of exposure until they run into the first live opponent that hits them back and its lights out.
