What a fantastic free kick yesterday from cristiano ronaldo!
Fergie reckons it was the best free kick ever in the premier league, what do you think? Or was it the best ever? That boy ronaldo makes england look s****!

I've seen better goals from free kicks struck from wider angles. It was the softest free kick ever awarded. Ronaldo didn't even run into Campbell. He just fell as though he was shot. The Portsmouth wall didn't work. They didn't even jump. The fuss about it is disproportionate.

Get a life mate, the lengths people will go to on these boards to deny a player from a team they dislike credit is embarassing.

Nobody is asking for anybody to say it was the 'best free-kick ever' but at least admit it was a fantastic strike and leave out all other excuses. doh

yes it was fantastic strike. was not best free kick ever tho.

Van Persies last season (forget who was against, fellow gooner help me out?) was better imo.

but i saw that and i was like WOW. it was from a very long distance and curved nicely

Alex, etc.

Another person trying to twist my words. I never said that England aren't crap - that doesn't excuse Ronaldo's behaviour! Who's the 'idiot' now?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Spidernick,

Just read your message above and my answer would be... You, I think.

You've openly declared your hate for Ronaldo because of his 'sneer' (which is merely a famous media-driven hate which makes you even more of an idiot IMO) for lack of any better reason. People desperately need an excuse to hate Ronaldo to aid them shoot down his talent but it has all backfired so far and the WC incident is the most laughable excuse yet.

England always need something to blame for their inevitable failures and Ronaldo is just another scapegoat for the press. I personally didn't see anything more sinister in Ronnie's actions than I did in any other 'incident' that tournament. It was an ill-disciplined event and everyone was more concerned about progression than fair-play, Rooney's temper is his major weakness and I've no doubt that the referee had made his mind up long before Ronaldo got involved.

Ronaldo doesn't need to excuse his behaviour to England's boo-boys, if it hadn't of been him, it would have been someone else.

Like I said earlier...

When England's captain and hero was sent off against Argentina in the last 16 of WC '98 England's faithful sent him death threats and hung an effigy...

When France's captain and hero was sent off in the dying minutes of the last WORLD CUP FINAL we gave him a hero's homecoming on the Champs-Élysées where hundreds of thousands turned up to publicly forgive and display their gratitude. ok

Rather than participating in media-driven witch-hunts, maybe the fickle fans of England should look a bit closer to home for their failures.erm

Cripes, do none of you understand English?!!!! The 'sneer' is the 'icing on the cake' and not the be all and end all! I made that clear in very plain English, some of you cannot understand basic English and so it's certainly not me who is the idiot!

Some of you need to stop digging, pause, think, re-read what I wrote and then come back and apologise (as if!).

Pearls before swine springs to mind and so I should really bid you all a less than fond farewell.

Finally, to go back to the original post, wasn't a better free kick scored the other night?

spidernick,

You need to learn by your own logic... You've been 'digging' to justify your ill-chosen statements since you first attempted to voice yourself.

Are you now retracting your argument and saying that you don't dislike Ronaldo because of the World Cup controversy and the inevitable media-circus that surrounded him?

I never said that was THE reason - it's ONE reason, but I found him objectionable before then, believe me.

I defy any of you to find anything I've said that is 'ill-chosen' without twisting my words or attributing commas that aren't there, or whatever. I've even cited other examples of what I don't like about him, which you all have conveniently ignored in an ill-fated attempt to try and trip me up regarding my previous postings.

As I've said before, I have to be careful with what I write at work, and operate the same principles here precisely because I don't want to get into this type or argument. However, I can't let some of the nonsense here go when I've been very clear in what I've said throughout.

I just find him arrogant and he has a sneer that really grates.

Man Utd fans may have forgotten the Rooney incident in the World Cup, but many others of us haven't.

----------------------------------

Infairness Nick the latter statement is all I've objected to.

I haven't put words in your mouth but perhaps with others adding fuel to the fire it has been blown out of proportion.

Forget what happened in the World Cup it was trivial and the moment has long since passed. ok

In the grand scheme of things you are, of course, right.

I saw a 2nd flight Italian player hit almost the same free-kick on Eurogoals the other day smiley
