Cup of Nations - day 10

African Nations Cup
comment on the article

Good afternoon and welcome to another huge, huge day of action at the Africa Cup of Nations.

We turn our attention to Group B today - and the inevitable conclusion that a fancied team will fall by the wayside.

Benin, of course, are already out, while Ivory Coast have secured their passage to the last eight.

That leaves Mali and Nigeria. One of them will end the day heartbroken and on their way home. But who?

Have a look at what needs to happen for Nigeria or Mali to qualify:

Whatever unfolds over the next couple of hours, I'm sure there will be plenty of drama, joy and heartache.

For traditional African football powerhouse Nigeria, there is no doubt that failing to qualify would be a disaster.

Will it spell the end for coach Berti Vogts? Is he to blame for their poor performances so far? Let me know what you think.

Keep up with the live text commentary here:

Well as long as my memory serves me right, Nigeria has never beaten the black stars in Ghana before
========================================================

check that memory again, friend....Nigeria has indeed beaten Ghana in Accra before....

the last being a 2-1 win in the 80's, when Nigeria had a hugely talented superbrat then, whom i can't remember his name now....

he did score both goals that day, Nigeria coming from behind to pip Ghana in Accra 2-1!!!

one of the biggest departmental surprises/flops of the CAN 2008 has been the Teranga Lion's DEFENSE.....

so many 100 Storeys Sky Scrappers in ALL those positions, but yet have been shipping in goals like bungalows....

Just hearing 'reports' that Herr Vogts is accusing
Nigerians and the Nigerian press of racism.

Really this guy is something else. Herr Vogts should not think because Nigeria are in the QF that is has got out of jail. Only winning the cup might just save his job, but me personally nothing he does will please me. I want a Nigerian or African in charge...if that is classed as racism...so be it. A second wind of change is gathering pace to sweep across most of Africa.

Also to the imbecile who said Ghana only lost to Nigeria in recent times due to a third a rate side playing...why will any country with their faculty intact do that. The truth is that
Ghana had their strongest side but Nigeria took their chances Ghana did not. Like my grandad used to say 'Football is not boxing. A team can have 99.9 possession throughout a match...but if the other team gets the one chance and scores...GAME OVER'.

Away from Nigeria vs Ghana. What do you guys think of Angola. I must say I like the look of the team. They seem to have a never say die attitude. Good to see an indigenous coach being giving the confidence to manage a nation. I quite fancy them to get to the SF.

Nigeria is the best in Africa take or leave it,Though our start to the current Nations might be a little below expectation but who says we can not improve on our standard of play, lets give our darling super eagles the chance to express themselves rather than bringing them with bad comments,as a reply to ur comment mickeyrunny, i don't know if u ar a nigerian or not but i don't really care whether u ar or not all i know is that nigeria has beaten ghana right there in Accra and we'll do it again come sunday 03/02/2008.and by that time u know who is best in Africa. Super Eagles for Real

---------------------------------------------
Delusions of grandeur.Nigeria is not the best team in Africa.such blind faith belongs to a bygone era.Have you seen this team lately???????.this team have been poor for a number of years.while every other team has improved the 'super'eagles have firstly stagnated then progressively gotten worse.if you cant see this you need to open your eyes!

I am shocked that Berti Vogts the Nigerian coach will call the Nigerian Media racist because they are asking for him to be fired because of the poor performance of the Super Eagles at the Nations cup. Everyone in the world except Vogts would knows that the biggest sport in Nigeria is Soccer and that Nigerians are very passionate about the sport. The super Eagles are rated number one in Africa because over the past African Nations cups they have consistently gone to the latter stages and for 25 years they have had no problems getting out to the group stages. Nigeria employed the services of Vogts and fired there Nigerian coach who was able to get them a third position because they believe that a foreign coach would be able to deliver better than a Nigerian one. Here is someone they believe will deliver and they are getting one of the worst results ever.

For Berti Vogts asking for him to go due to his inability to justify why he was hired at least so far is resulting in his calling the Nigerian media racist is an insult on any intelligent person and not just Nigerians, such tactics are usually done by people that are not sure of themselves. I am disappointed in him for saying this when all he has to do is to perform and he would have silenced all his critics. For his information Black coaches who have not done as bad as he has have being fired

well, I must congratulate Nigerians for beating benin cos if they did not do so, I could have ask the world to tell NFA to desovle anything concerning super Engle of Nigeria,
I remeber in the time of JJ OKOCHA,Sunday OLISeh and Taribo and tajani babagida and our super magicial Rashdi rakini.

How can they play draw with Mail and coted' ivoire wins them, it is a shameful thing but I advice them and their coach to put thing in order to make the cup for we nigerians cos it has be alongtime when we teast the cup and they should remeber that there is a pround in it by winning Cup of Nation and they should give all the best to the field to wil Ghana on sunday.

thanks
Mr prince Micheal
