I think this is a bad idea..

comment on the article

I like Chris Morts plan, of developing young players from around the world here. However, if what i think is right, then Keegan will not have the final say on players coming in. I think every manager should choose who they want to sign. If they want to drive Keegan away - then they are doing everything right. He didnt even know what was going on, bad crack if you ask me.

Atleast we've bought in that Jeff Vetere bloke from Madrid - hes meant to be a great scout type person that finds the best talent around the world.

Am i right about this all? Or does Keegan have first say on who he wants to bring in and then Wise does his bit?!

Please can someone shed some light on this..

I have to agree with the last comment from Obi Jon Kenobi. Having watched Keegan during the Arsenal game he looked totally drained and his body language did suggest that he wanted to curl up and disappear. I have great respect for KK and hope that he can pull things round. I do hope that he is not being undermined by the surprise (to me) appointment of Dennis Wise and that they can work together to give the Newcastle fans the team that they desire.
Just for fun have a look at this:

"I'm here to help Kevin, bringing young players through and also recommend certain players to him," said Wise.

"He'll say yes and no, he has the final word, no-one else. Everything that happens will be run past him."

There ya go. Thread is dead!

I find it amazing how many people from other clubs feel the need to come on here and put down newcastle, their fans, Keegan and everything else associated with the football club. Considering everyone complains about us not being a big club any more we seem to generate an awful lot of interest from outsiders.

Let's clear a few things up though. Big Sam was not given enough time, I am in full agreeance with those comments, but this was his chance to prove he could actually play football and manage a side that wasn't restricting him in quality....what did we get, a poor attempt at Bolton long-ball football. Playing Martins on the wing? N'Zogbia at Leftback? Constantly chopping and changing the formation and players and wondering why no-one knew their job? These are all reasons why he was given the shove in favour of someone who the fans would get behind and give the all important rebuilding time to. No newcastle fan I have spoken to expects it to be an overnight change, but what they do want to see is a team actually attempting to win matches. Going away to Derby looking for a 0-0??? You expect us to accept this as good management? Are the fans expectations really that unrealistic? Why shouldn't we expect to be challenging for a european spot at the very least when we pay out the transfer fees, wages and have the home support to put most sides in the premiership to shame...just value for money, that is all we ask.

As for the Dennis Wise issue, there is none. For some reason the media and the fans from other clubs are just waiting for Keegan to fall on his backside, and for what reason?? Wise has been brought in to do a specific behind the scenes role, that Keegan admits he knew about before he took the job, and is part of the grand plans of Mike Ashley and Co to build for the future....do they get credit for this change in thinking?? Of course not - it is much more fun to pile the pressure on Keegan and see if you can make him break.

Keegan is out-of-date and can't attract any players as judged by the January window?? What a load of rubbish. He has had zero time to et transfer targets picked out let alone signed, and unlike most other clubs he has decided to take a more sensible approach and not sign someone just for the sake of it and keep the money for the summer. Judge him after the end of the season, when he has had time, then see what happens.

One last thing...if this all goes pear shaped then fine, everyone will enjoy poking fun, but newcastle fans have never been up themselves int he same way as most other sides have, but after this verbal onslaught if things do turn around under Ashley and Keegan then do not complain when the fans turn around and remind each and every one of you about these early days and the constant put-downs....Get on and support your own teams and keep your noses out of other peoples affairs...plain and simple!

The problems at the Toon were endemic throughout the club, hence massive failures all round. Keegan can only be in one place at a time & is employed to turn the team around hence having someone who can find new young blood to feed the Keegan & Toon apetite for success can only be a positive thing. Building anything, will only be as strong as its foundations and the Toons recent foundations of underperforming players made sure that this change was necessary.

djbungo, what you just wrote is totally spot on couldn't have put it better myself! a liverpool fan myself i have respect for other clubs and newcastle is one i have the utmost respect for especially their fans... if man u or arsenal wernt as good then they wouldn't have the fan base they have now lets face it (no disrespect as they are 2 great sides) however the toon fans are die hard fans that stick by their club eventhough they have been underachieving in recent years unfortunately...
good luck to all sides this weekend

It is unfortunate that there are people about in all walks of life that find it highly hilarious to smirk at other people when they are down - we know all about it at DCFC!! These very same people are the ones who you never hear from when their clubs are on the slide. I for one hope that the Toon do well with KK and good luck to them as they have waited many years for it to happen. With the fan base available their club should be a part of the elite but have not been for a very long time. Hopefully they will achieve that if they are patient enough. At clubs like ours at Pride Park we have aspirations certainly but we also know that there are limitations to what we can achieve due to the size of our city and surrounding area and consequently the potential fan base. When we have tried to become a part of the elite on anumber of occasions in the past we have fallen down badly and got ourselves into excessive debts which have threatened our very existence. I hope that doesn't happen to anyone else. Good Luck the Toon we hope to see you very soon but we are not holding our breath at present.
