bladeswinger (U1733366) posted Jan 29, 2008 Every year I find it easier and easier to find things to do other than watch International cricket. As a kid I would have been heartbroken to miss an England Test. Nowadays it's mostly meaningless crep, with an England side full of emotional weaklings and educationally sub-normal, chemically challenged insects. Tait. Same character defects - different country. Who cares? Only his wife's new boyfriend in all probability because it means he's been sussed.

Ashley Noffke should be the first choice, effectively giving the Aussies another allrounder. He is the leading wicket-taker in Australian domerstic cricket, and is fifth in total runs scored. He will almost certainly see some action in the upcoming VB series.

yorker_129-7 (U1601085) posted Jan 30, 2008 One of the problems re:spinners is the increasing one-day cricket. Spin in limited overs cricket is seen as a defensive option and a way to increase over rates, only real top quality spinners are seen as wicket-takers, and teams seem just as happy to go medium pace wicket to wicket stuff (like with Mascharenas, Bopara and Collingwood in England), and a part-time spinner who doesn't turn it much is seen as being OK to just eke out a few overs and give the seamers a rest.
